Lensbaby Velvet 56 – A Test Drive

Written by • Apr 29th, 2015 • Category: Lead Story
After (some miserable) days of waiting, I finally got to give the new Lensbaby Velvet 56 a quick test drive. As I had only a couple of hours to spare last Saturday, all I did was to run some random shots using that fun (and sexy!) lens. After an hour of testing, I have already fallen in love with it. Yes it is quite different from the previous Lensbaby offerings where you can move the sweet spot (minus the fisheye one which I will someday try purchase when I sell… >> read more

Sexy, Shiny, Silver – Lensbaby Velvet 56!

Written by • Apr 21st, 2015 • Category: Toys
The fun people at Lensbaby teased us with some images (of bits and pieces of a new product) lately and when it was finally launched … I knew I was in trouble. Not only the new Velvet 56 lens seemed a whole lot of fun … but it comes with a silver version too! I was a little disappointed (and perhaps a little happy that I might be able to save some money by not buying it) when I saw that the silver edition doesn’t come in Pentax mount (only… >> read more

The Digital Diana aka Rhianna

Written by • Dec 16th, 2014 • Category: Toys
They promised to produce and deliver the Rhianna camera (originally called the ‘digital Diana camera’ when they were seeking for crowd funding to build it) by Christmas and sure enough it landed on my desk last week. Well … it is more like a digital Mini Diana instead of the medium format Diana cameras as the camera looks almost identical to a Diana mini. Here is a quick first look at it (since I am very busy with everything else). I have no time to take photos of the actual… >> read more

Lomo Instant : The Unboxing

Written by • Nov 10th, 2014 • Category: Toys
After being rather disappointed with Lomo’s instant backs for the Diana and LC-A+ (could be just me!) … I prayed hard that their new instant camera will be one that I’ll love. So few days ago … it landed on my desk and over the weekend I decided to take some photos of the unboxing process … featuring my usual partner in crime (aka little boss) Fitzand. He was happily helping me unbox it and you’ll probably see why … soon. I was wondering why was there a pack of… >> read more

Knock! Knock!

Written by • Sep 17th, 2014 • Category: Digital stuffs
Knock! Knock! Yes I’m still around! It seems like a decade since I last updated this blog and I finally spent some time last night to iron out some technical hiccups in the photo gallery (in Fitzand’s photo gallery section). I’m glad I still remember my login and password! Since I am already logged in … I thought I might just create a post here to say a big ‘HELLO!’ to everyone out there. I’ll try harder to post more photos soon. So what’s been up? Too many to mention… >> read more

Kyoto : Color Overdose

Written by • Nov 29th, 2013 • Category: Digital stuffs
I’m back! Okay … maybe I have lost my mojo to shoot for a while now but in an attempt to get back on track, I am shooting more during this trip to Kyoto. I have an almost finished roll in my LC-W. Yeah … a little too slow compared to my old trigger-happy ways but hey … a roll is better than no roll at all. Isn’t it? Anyway … here are some digital ones … shot using the Pentax K3 I picked up recently. Lovely camera! Here are… >> read more

Unboxing The Instant Lab

Written by • Sep 15th, 2013 • Category: Toys
A week after this cool toy arrived and finally I find time to unbox it. Yeah … life’s been really busy these days and there is never a dull moment but I sure miss my cameras. Anyway … the Instant Lab arrived after I totally forgotten that I pledged for one some many months back. First I received a notification that it is leaving Hong Kong on the way to my desk in Singapore … and a couple of days later the status (on the postal tracking site) indicated that… >> read more

A Casetagram Case

Written by • Jul 19th, 2013 • Category: Others
Shoot it. Place it. Case it. That’s what Castetagram claims they do. I recently chanced upon this interesting online phone/tablet cover printing service and decided to give it a try. The 2 items I ordered from them arrived today and since I am very satisfied with them … I’ll do a short ‘review’ on Casetagram here in my (recently much neglected blog). Designing your own cases are a breeze using just a few simple steps on their website. Oh … by the way … they can be found at casetagram.com.… >> read more

Beneath The Surface by Miun

Written by • Jun 18th, 2013 • Category: Others
Miun (aka Noreen aka Norya) … a very talented friend of mine has been spending a lot of time exploring some very cool methods of experimenting with the Impossible Project films and deriving at really neat works. Come July and September 2013 … she will be exhibiting her works in Hong Kong and you guys definitely have to go check it out if you are there. I’m gonna bug her for a ticket to Hong Kong (plus beer and accomodation!)  for being her #1 fan! For more information about these… >> read more

One Roll, Three Countries

Written by • May 1st, 2013 • Category: Fun with film
The title of this entry (One Roll, Three Countries) may sound like some cool project I did but honestly … it is just a simple title to describe this roll of Neopan 400 loaded into my GR21 when I was in Japan early this year. As I have been struck by some strange illness called ‘no-mood-to-shoot’ (which is slowly recovering), I took only a handful of shots during that trip and then despite my desperate attempt to finish the 36 frames here in Singapore later … it still ended up… >> read more
