X1 : The Test Run

Written by • Jun 10th, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
A week since the X1 got discharged from the ‘hospital’, today is the first time I got to really give it a test run. Like any other weekend of mine (these days) … getting to spend time with my camera alone is usually not possible … and so I took some test shots with the Leica X1 when out with my family today. Apart from these digital shots … I also (finally) managed to finish a roll of film in my La Sardina. Time to make a dash to the… >> read more

The One Year Old Roll

Written by • Jun 3rd, 2012 • Category: Fun with film
In an attempt to clear all halfway exposed rolls from my cameras, I took some random snaps on my Pentax MZ-S today and got the roll of Neopan 1600 developed (at home). What surprised me was the photos in this roll … some from about a year ago! How do I know? This one below is proof enough I guess … a photo of Jimmy (from ThirtySix) at last year’s beer fest! This year’s beer fest is coming real soon … so I guess it is almost a year already!… >> read more

Jr. Scientist Toy Cam

Written by • May 29th, 2012 • Category: Toys
A friend (Lee Jiing … another photography addict) posted a photo of this plastic camera that comes with the Jr. Scientist magazine on Facebook and being curious (as usual) … I dropped him a message and he told me he found it at Toys R Us while shopping for toys for his kiddos. Toys R Us! Looking very much like another one of those Gakken DIY plastic cameras … I decided to pick one up to take a look … at least get it assembled for fun … and see… >> read more

Patience Put To Test

Written by • May 28th, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
Decided to bring Fitzand to check out the Army Open House 2012 yesterday and as expected … a big crowd (that always scares me!) but still the little one had a good time. Hmm … since when do they make the army boys pose with the visitors? I find it a little funny. πŸ˜› There are two things I lack of … hair and patience. I’ve never bothered to join any long queue … be it for food or beer or any other stuff (except for banking and official matters).… >> read more

X-Pro1 Dressed Up

Written by • May 25th, 2012 • Category: Toys
After being naked for some time … finally I got my X-Pro1 ‘dressed up’. It took almost 2 weeks for this Funper leather half case to arrive from Hong Kong. There are 101 choices (of half cases) out there but I find this one pretty neat and price is reasonable. Didn’t wanna spend more on a JnK case like the one I have for the X-100, so I placed an order and was told it would take almost 10 days for the factory to make it. Huh? Made on demand?… >> read more

Diana Returns!

Written by • May 24th, 2012 • Category: Fun with film
Friends found it hard to believe when I told them that I shot only about a roll of 120 on my Diana F+ and maybe 15 frames on my LC-A+ during my recent vacation to Taiwan. It is not that I wasn’t trigger happy but … the *cough cough* truth is … I was spending too much time playing with the X-Pro1. Okay … let’s not talk about the X-Pro1 for now. There were some frames left in a roll that I loaded into my Diana F+ and it was… >> read more

The MUBI Poison

Written by • May 23rd, 2012 • Category: Others
After resisting getting one (or more) of those very delicious looking stripey yummy edition of the La Sardina (the Diana F+ clones are already sending me to my grave), my weak ol’ heart was put to test again when I saw this very sleek version of the Lomokino lately. The MUBI edition! Isn’t it sexy??!! It’s the perfect match – Lomography have joined forces with MUBI to bring you the first LomoKino special edition. Featuring the signature of the Palme D’Or winning Director Apichatpong Weerasethakul, the LomoKino MUBI Edition is… >> read more

About Keri

Written by • May 21st, 2012 • Category: Someone : About
It has been a long time since I’ve done any feature/interview for the ‘About Someone’ section and when I decided to invite someone to participate in this next one … I immediately thought of this photographer I got to know through Lensbaby some years back. Some of you might remember reading about her works in one of my blog entry about her photo book, Portland Vignettes. I’m a big fan of her works! A brief intro taken from her website … “Keri Friedman is a photographer living in Portland, OR.… >> read more

Baby Pixie

Written by • May 19th, 2012 • Category: Others
After itching for a long while to get this ‘gadget’ … each time saying ‘no’ to it and ended up spending money on camera stuffs … finally … I bit the bullet (coffee flavored one) and got myself an Nespresso Pixie coffee machine. It is the smallest (and cheapest) one … and it comes in RED!!! πŸ˜€ It probably ain’t gonna give me super yummy coffee like a real coffee machine and all that beans and skills would … but it is fast and easy enough to give me that… >> read more

8 Days Of Fun

Written by • May 2nd, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
A short summary of our Taiwan trip last week. We found out about Leofoo Resort during our previous Taiwan trip a couple of years back and we knew that will be definitely a place to bring Fitzand to for a short trip. We got a room facing the area where the animals were and this is definitely a trip that Fitzand loves lots. He was complaining a lot when we left the resort for Taipei after 4 days because he wanted to stay longer. The awesome thing about this resort… >> read more
