This one (above) is my favourite from this roll. I didn’t do the developing (of the black & white film) this time because I am out of the chemicals and do not have time to replenish them. So this roll was developed by the shop and since today is a public holiday (and I have time to spare), I finished scanning it.

I am so in love with shooting black & white street photos with the little (and amazing) GR21!

To be honest … I am trying hard to get back my trigger happy ways. I had my LC-A+ with me but it saw only a handful of exposures before going back into my bag.

I think I might have just picked the right film to load … as the cherry blossoms look yummy pink and purple in the following photos …

The ones I shot with my digital cam looked pretty boring compared to these.

Maybe I should just forget about bringing my digital camera along and then I’ll be forced to shoot more with film. Hmm … but then it will be real hard to come back with many photos of Fitzand. Dilemma … dilemma ..

Yes … I don’t know why on earth did I take some of these shots when they look … ermm … so boring. Hahaha! Could be due to my desperate attempt to burn more rolls and start loving shooting with film as much as before.

That’s all for now. I’ll finish scanning the rest of the frames in a day or two.

Anyway … while I am struggling to go through the tons of photos of Fitzand … here are the other random shots I took … mostly street photos that I snapped one evening when the mood came. Yeah … I don’t know where my mood went either.

This first one was taken outside some old palace while we were waiting for the rest of the tour members.

Doing street photography is one of my favourite thing when I am on vacations. These were all shot with the Sony RX1. I am beginning to love using it for street photography even without the (darn expensive) viewfinder.

The name ‘dothebag’ is pretty cool too eh?

It is of the right size (for me) as I’m usually lugging around smaller cameras nowadays. From the website … this bag is suppose to be able to fit a DSLR body and a few lenses too.

It sure feels really solid and

I usually make sure the bags I buy can fit my 11″ Macbook Air and this one is no exception. The MBA fits just nice in the front pocket! Yes … it goes all the way in nicely and the MBA is sticking out in the photo above just for illustration purposes.

The ‘locks’ are on both sides. Just pull the silver knob and it will release. Simple and neat.

Since this is replacing the Kelly Moore ‘boy’ bag … I’ll include a few photos to show why I got frustrated with the older bag. I am not sure why … but after less than 5 times using it … the material is starting to crack!!! It is not real leather … just some material that looks like leather but it is quite disappointing to see how it starts ‘fall apart’ just after few ‘dates’ with me! I took it for a trip to Japan and a couple of times here in Singapore … and I do not abuse it at all. See the photos below …

I noticed this started to happen during my Japan trip. I am not sure of the strap will give way but I’ve stopped carrying heavier stuffs in it. Hmm … I actually do not carry very heavy equipments. At most a mirrorless camera, a film SLR with a compact lens, my Macbook Air and some batteries.

I’ve read some complains online about such cracks and peeling of the material. What a waste for otherwise such a pretty comfy camera bag. The name says ‘boy’ and perhaps it decided to self destruct in the hands of an old man.

Street photography is fun with this almost silent camera. The 35mm lens makes it a wonderful tool for street photography.

Colors are pretty awesome although I prefer using the ‘neutral’ setting instead of the ‘standard’ one. I’ll make adjustments in post processing if necessary. Oh … and I ain’t a RAW shooter … so don’t ask me about it.

Close up shots are pretty fun with this beast although you can’t really go very close. One thing I realised … when I was trying to take some photos of Fitzand up close … the focus went cranky and it couldn’t lock focus. Maybe it was just me … so I’ll try it again soon.

No test drive of cameras are complete without some images of my (not so) little boss.

The lens seems pretty darn sharp!

This is (as usual) not a review. Just a quick test drive. The camera’s pretty well built … feels real solid (compared to those I’ve used like the Fujifilm X100 … or even X-Pro1) and seems to be a very good performer (to me).

These were shot using my Fujifilm XS-1. Although I hardly have the need for long lenses … times like these (when I need to zoom in) makes keeping a super zoom camera worthwhile.

This ‘short break’ from shooting sure ain’t a short one but I’ll be back real soon … I think.

It almost ended up in a disaster because I forgot to insert a SD card into the camera! I had no memory card!!! After slapping myself silly and decided to use only the Instax Mini camera … I suddenly realised that I had a SD card in the car! It is the one that stores the maps and software for the GPS and I made a dash to pull it out from the dashboard and I sure was happy when I saw that it can accommodate approximately 250 images. Phew!

There were 3 more that I took that day … to give some workout to my SX-70 but the results were a little … ermm … disappointing. Not sure if it is because of the lighting or the meter going nuts though.

So I poured out the last few drops of developer before washing out the few remaining bits from inside the bottle and proceed to develop the roll like I normally do. Yeah … the usual lazy crazy way that ends up with little ice cubes in the development tank. My heart was beating like a drum! When it came to the end of the developing stage … suddenly I heard a beep and there was this message coming in from a buddy. Then instead of continue monitoring the timing of the last few minutes/seconds of the developing … I stopped the timer and proceed to check my phone message! I ignored the timer! I don’t know how long it took me to read the message but I gave the development tank a few good shake once I was done with my phone … and proceed to finish the entire process.

It was like witnessing a miracle when I finally got to see the film strip!!! It seemed to have turned out properly! So those few drops of developer works? So I really can do with such a diluted mix in future? So that phone message that came in was magical? I sure was happy!

Street photography … one of my favourite genre but also the genre that I seem to shoot lesser these days.

I am convinced that parting the money for the GR21 is a wise decision. I’m loving the camera so much (except the times when I left the lens cap on)!!!

It is 430am now and I better get back to sleep soon. I fell asleep around 11pm with the scanner still working hard and jumped out of bed at 330am!

It is a little too early for Chinese New Year celebrations but there was a short lion dance performance organized by McDonalds. Fitzand is one big fan of the lion dance performances and of course he had fun posing with them.

Now this is probably a ‘return’ to shooting in analogue. Hahaha! I’ll be back real soon! I’ve yet to go replenish the chemicals and there is a roll of black & white film shot using the GR21 in Japan that I’ve yet to develop.
