The Pocket Cam

Written by • Sep 23rd, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
Compact cameras like the Natura Classica ain’t exactly compact to me. That’s because they won’t fit into my pocket (although empty čÖü ) easily. Some months ago I picked up an used GR10 that was in minty condition for slightly less than S$200 and decided to use that as my everyday camera that I can bring around … and be my workhorse. I know there are some yummier alternatives like the GR21 (damn … I saw someone selling one lately) or the GR1v … but I need something cheap, something… >> read more

Another Digital Weekend

Written by • Aug 16th, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
If you are wondering why I’ve not been posting much (or any) photos from my analogue cams … hahahaha …. no … I’ve not given up or retired (yet). It is just that I loaded one too many cameras with film and now struggling to complete them. I’ve been rotating between the cameras to make sure I treat them all equally and thus the long wait. So while waiting for the rolls to be completed, I’m taking some digital snapshots … of course 99.99% of the time … the subject… >> read more

Quack And Bake

The kiddos were having a Mothers’ Day celebration today morning and I had to give it a miss because not only the invitations were extended to the mothers … but also I just can’t take another half a day of leave because of the mess I’ve to clear at work (after the 1 week vacation). It was pretty sad to not be able to be there but I guess Fitzand was happy that his mommy was present. Right after breakfast, I handed my Sony point-n-shoot to wifey and told her… >> read more

Warm Night, Cold Noods

After selling off my DSLR body yesterday, I managed to let go my macro lens this evening. This means I’ve only 2 more lenses to sell before I am officially ‘DSLRless’. Someone’s coming over to check out the Sigma 10-20 lens tomorrow evening and I do hope he’ll help me clear off one more lens. These are a couple more of random test shots with the E-PL1 just now during dinner with my family (while waiting for the buyer who wanted my macro lens). I’ve had soba for the 2nd… >> read more

Inside The Cutie

Written by • Feb 22nd, 2010 • Category: Others
I’ve always wondered what’s it like inside the cute FDC01 toy digital camera and since my fingers were pretty itchy today … I decided to carefully open up the camera to peek inside. It wasn’t hard at all, with all the 4 screws securing the outer ‘casing’ easily accessible on both the sides. Within seconds, the little cutie was ‘torn apart’. Here’s what’s inside the FDC01 … Cool? Hahaha! Okay … nothing much to play with inside and I’m not about to brick the camera just yet by trying to… >> read more

Articulating LCDs? Nah!

Written by • Feb 9th, 2010 • Category: Others
Stumbled upon this super futuristic cool camera design and thought you guys might be interested to take a look at it. It is suppose to allow the user to take photos from all sort of angles. With this, people do not have to bitch about some new cameras not having those articulating LCD monitors anymore. “Fleximus camera is a┬áflexible tube with┬áa┬álens. You can choose to┬ámount either a┬ácompact view finder or a┬áthree-inch display module.” Maybe I can shove it down my throat to take some… >> read more

Another Busy Saturday

Written by • Feb 6th, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
Woke up this morning and was greeted by a message on my phone … saying that there will be a ‘photo clinic session’ (more like a talk/intro) about film/toy camera photography at Orchard Central, organized by ThirtySix. Well who wouldn’t wanna go take a look at what Jimmy (the boss) has to say, so I brought my family (yeah … the entire army to go support!) to check out the session at 3:30pm. Here’s a couple of shots taken at the ‘photo clinic session’. Click on the image below for… >> read more

The Sexy And The Ugly

After a very short stay with me, the Lumix FT1 camera was sold off because I somehow find the photos from it … horrible. Not sure if I got a lemon unit but the photos from it doesn’t seem to be of any good. Considering my already very low requirements from a compact camera, that one was quite a hopeless case. Anyway, after I recently sold off my Canon IVsb old rangefinder, I had some spare cash on hand and decided to burn it on a new digital toy. I… >> read more

New Cute Digital Toy!

Written by • Jan 19th, 2010 • Category: Toys
Cashing in on the toy camera craze, there seems to be more small/tiny cameras appearing in the scene. So far … I think the Digital Harinezumi has done pretty well compared to the rest. The pretty new kids on the block are some very small sized cameras with a boring name … “FDC01”. They come in either blue or red (looks more like pink to me) … and like the VistaQuest cameras … they are supposed to be ‘keychain cameras’. I was told that it is called the ‘SQ28m’ in… >> read more

Analogue Lust

Written by • Jan 15th, 2010 • Category: Toys
I confess that I’ve been wanting this camera for quite a while now. Perhaps for several years! I saw one for sale quite some years back but the price was a little on the high side (for me) and after giving that a miss … I somehow forgotten about it. Phew! Well … that’s until recently I chanced upon this unit for sale that is in very minty condition and comes with the original pouch and box! I contacted the seller and (pushed my luck) offered him an amount and… >> read more
