Lensbaby In Taiwan (Part I)

Written by • Apr 27th, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
After some test run with the X-Pro1 … finally time to whip out my Lensbaby for some big fun! Paired the Composer Pro + Edge 80 optic with my K-01 … I sort of went trigger happy (as usual) and here are 40 of the photos … I really don’t know how to explain this … but each and every time I touch the Lensbaby … I simply go crazy! It is always big fun using the Lensbaby (any version of it) and I’ve never got bored using them. A… >> read more

Bye Bye Lytro

Written by • Apr 22nd, 2012 • Category: Toys
Some of you might have noticed that I picked up a Lytro light field camera recently. I actually ‘snatched’ it when I saw a 16GB version one that was 3 weeks old on sale in a local photography forum … at a very good price! After keeping it for slightly about a week plus … and a few test shots … I knew I had to say goodbye to it. No … not that it isn’t fun … but I find myself not liking the way we are suppose to… >> read more

Edge 80 Goes Out To Play

Written by • Feb 22nd, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
Got an invitation to attend Fujifilm Singapore’s launch of the X-Pro1 camera today but I sneaked outta it when everyone were busy giving a go at the cameras. There were pretty models and cool macro stuffs for us to try the X-Pro1 on but after sneaking out to reply some urgent messages … I decided to get myself a few pints of cold beer and … whip out my DSLR & Lensbaby … with the Edge 80 optic. Yeah … I’ve got serious attitude problem. 😛 Wondering what I feel… >> read more

Of Chickens & Poo

Written by • Dec 28th, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
Burned some Instax wide film during my recent trip to Malaysia. This first one is my favourite. It was a lucky shot though. I waited for the rooster to walk towards me but I knew that to get a nicer angle … I had to go lower down … but … the ground was peppered with chicken poo. Damn. Eeew! I have enough of those (poo/shit/crap) at work and so I told myself that it was gonna be a ‘don’t think … just shoot’ situation. I was very happy when… >> read more

Darth Vader Cam!

Written by • Sep 27th, 2010 • Category: Toys
Many years after selling off what I thought was the ugliest camera ever (the Orbit 360F), I stumbled upon another one that is a little butt ugly but has a weird futuristic look. Introduced in 1991, the Konica Aiborg is sometimes referred to as the ‘Darth Vader camera’ by some. It has a 35-105 zoom lens, is pretty heavy despite the plastic body and rubbery grip. It arrived just the other day and here are some photos & info about it … On the top of the camera … there… >> read more

Fuzzyeyeballs Vs RF

Written by • Aug 31st, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
Some of you might already know that I ain’t one who can use a rangefinder camera properly. Blame my old fuzzy eyeballs … I usually have problem focusing with that little patch in the viewfinder. Hahaha! I’ve tried several rangefinders (without film in them) and concluded that I might go blind if I ever finish shooting 36 frames in one. Recently a friend passed me his Bessa R2A and told me to give it a try. I knew it will be quite a challenge but for the fun (and pain)… >> read more

LB Soft Focus Optic : Analogue Test

Written by • Jan 3rd, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
After some initial test with my DSLR, I decided to try out the Lensbaby Soft Focus Optic (SFO) on my cheap old film SLR. I know that the Lensbaby lenses can work very well on that SLR but I was a little worried about the metering when using the SFO. This is because of the many weird ‘holes’ (ie. apertures) on the aperture disc. I found my SLR already loaded with a roll of Reala 100 film and had a few shots already taken … and took me a while… >> read more

When Old Meets New

Written by • Dec 30th, 2009 • Category: Digital stuffs
Dug out a beautiful condition Canon IVsb rangefinder camera from my cabinet just the other day to give the (cloth) shutter some workout. This time I loaded a roll of cheap expired negative to give it another round of exercise but managed to only shoot 4 shots. Hahaha! Damn. I have a big problem with the tiny viewfinder on that super old and cool looking camera. Suddenly I got an idea to put that camera + lens to better use. I can use that lens on my E-P1!!! I’ve read… >> read more

Look What I Bagged This Xmas

Written by • Dec 26th, 2009 • Category: Toys
This must be the coolest X’mas ever! I got this present from my wife and she told me to stop using that boring little black camera bag (a small Domke) because it looks so boring. Hahaha! Yay! It’s a Herringbone VOL leather camera bag! Cool! Well she didn’t actually pick it herself but got me to find myself one that I like. Not wanting to spend too much, I settled for a minty used condition one from a photography forum’s buy/sell section. I’ve quite many camera bags in my storeroom,… >> read more

He Came, He Drank, He Bought

Written by • Dec 1st, 2009 • Category: Digital stuffs
I’ve always loved my Digital Buchineko (white version of the Digital Harinezumi) and when the recent Digital Harinezumi 2 was launched (not long after I bought the Buchineko!), I thought I’d be safe and be able to resist the temptation. It was all well until I dropped by ThirtySix (a cool local toy camera store) with a six-pack of beer. Met up with the owner, gulped some cold beer … he let me ‘have a feel’ of the Harinezumi 2. That’s when trouble began! One ‘problem’ I’ve always had with… >> read more
