RX100 Skinned

Probably the only ‘problem’ I find with the Sony DSC-RX100 … the way too slippery matt black surface of the camera body. Maybe it is just my fat clumsy fingers but I sure wished it has some form of rubber/leather skin to make holding it easier. Of course to be safe … I always use a wrist strap with it. After playing with the Fujifilm X10 for some weeks, one definite thing I wanted to do was to hunt for a thumb grip as the little grip at the back of the camera was of not much use (blame my fat thumb). It fits perfectly on the X-100 and now it is way easier shooting with one hand (which I do often as I’ve to hold on tight to my little Energizer bunny, Fitzand) and I don’t have to try keep a good grip on the camera anymore. The silver version looks pretty good on the X-100 despite the fact that… >> read more

Darth Vader Cam!

Many years after selling off what I thought was the ugliest camera ever (the Orbit 360F), I stumbled upon another one that is a little butt ugly but has a weird futuristic look. Introduced in 1991, the Konica Aiborg is sometimes referred to as the ‘Darth Vader camera’ by some. It has a 35-105 zoom lens, is pretty heavy despite the plastic body and rubbery grip. It arrived just the other day and here are some photos & info about it … On the top of the camera … there… >> read more
