Baby Going Close

Written by • Mar 7th, 2012 • Category: Toys
The best feeling is always when the postman comes knocking at your door with a parcel for you but you know very well you didn’t order anything lately. The feeling of excitement plus a little bit of fear (cases where you start clicking the ‘Buy Now’ button after too much beer) is just awesome. I was handed this little parcel today and it in … something fun to add to my Lensbaby family. The Lensbaby Macro Converters! It comes in a set of 2 … an 8mm and also a… >> read more

Edge 80 On The Street

Written by • Feb 26th, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
Some random test shots with the Lensbaby Edge 80 optic yesterday. Didn’t have much time to shoot though. I’m beginning to get used to focusing with this optic although shooting moving subjects is sure a big challenge. Luckily focus was okay when he suddenly gave me the thumbs-up! Okay … so few of these (above) are still subjects but these below are the more challenging ones … That’s all for now. Gotta go get a shower and run off to my clients place. Gotta do migration and upgrades for several… >> read more

Edge 80 Goes Out To Play

Written by • Feb 22nd, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
Got an invitation to attend Fujifilm Singapore’s launch of the X-Pro1 camera today but I sneaked outta it when everyone were busy giving a go at the cameras. There were pretty models and cool macro stuffs for us to try the X-Pro1 on but after sneaking out to reply some urgent messages … I decided to get myself a few pints of cold beer and … whip out my DSLR & Lensbaby … with the Edge 80 optic. Yeah … I’ve got serious attitude problem. 😛 Wondering what I feel… >> read more

Lensbaby Edge 80

Written by • Feb 21st, 2012 • Category: Toys
Thanks to those fun people from Lensbaby, a copy of the Edge 80 arrived at my office today. Unfortunately it was close to midnight by the time I had time for myself (and my cameras), so giving this cool lens a proper test run is not quite possible (old folks need sleep too!). Anyway … here are some photos I took of the lens coupled with my K5 … The Edge 80 Optic is an 80mm f/2.8 flat field of focus optic with a 12-blade adjustable aperture and is perfect… >> read more

Portland Vignettes

Written by • Oct 14th, 2011 • Category: Toys
I feel in love with the simple yet awesome photos she takes and posts in Facebook and when I saw that she has this lovely ‘Portland Vignettes’ book published … I didn’t think twice about ordering a copy. I got to know Keri through Lensbaby (she’s a lucky devil to work in a company making fun lenses!). A copy of the book arrived today (I got a signed copy!) and I must say that I’m impressed! “Keri Friedman is a photographer living in Portland, OR. By day she works for… >> read more

Composer gone Pro!

Written by • Aug 27th, 2011 • Category: Digital stuffs
Yeah … my Lensbaby Composer has gone pro. Received the Pro version of the Composer from Lensbaby yesterday and it answered all my questions before about how different can it be from the normal version. After drawing a Hello Kitty leaving a big ‘X’ on the polling slip for the Presidential Election this morning, we went out for a great breakfast with some friends and then spent some time doing some shopping … and of course for me … some shooting! This set of candid photos above is my favourite… >> read more

Get A (Better) Grip!

Written by • Jun 15th, 2011 • Category: Toys
This is probably the last ‘investment’ I’m ever gonna make on my X-100 and it arrived in the mail today. A ThumbsUp CSEP-2 that was originally designed for the Leica X1. It fits perfectly on the X-100 and now it is way easier shooting with one hand (which I do often as I’ve to hold on tight to my little Energizer bunny, Fitzand) and I don’t have to try keep a good grip on the camera anymore. The silver version looks pretty good on the X-100 despite the fact that… >> read more

Fisheyed + Redscaled Planes

Written by • May 27th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
Got a little too trigger happy yesterday at the Air Force open house preview and burned a roll of redscale film loaded in my Pentax MZ-30 coupled with the Lensbaby Scout + fisheye optic combo. It was a super darn hot day but somehow the roll still turned out underexposed. Bah! Well at least I know the next time I use redscale on the cam … I’ll probably compensate the exposure by +1 (or is it +2?). I was a little disappointed after scanning the first two shots but then… >> read more

White Gone, Silver Here

Written by • Mar 26th, 2011 • Category: Toys
The white Pentax K-x finally left me after a year or so. The good thing is since I bought it at a great price in Tokyo … selling it off at a very very minimal loss today didn’t hurt a bit. What originally supposed to be a DSLR body to be used with my Lensbabies … ended up doubling as a camera I photograph Fitzand with. I got tempted by a couple of Pentax’s ‘Limited’ series silver lenses and pairing them with the K-x was fine … but AF speed… >> read more

Toy Lens : First Look

Written by • Mar 4th, 2011 • Category: Digital stuffs
This new toy arrived at my desk … just a day after I placed an order (from Hong Kong). Super fast! The Toy Lens from SLR Magic … a lens that a blog reader/friend … ‘poisoned’ me with recently. You know who you are?!!! 😀 With a focal length of 26mm (which equals a 52mm on M4/3) … this little lens sure sounds fun! So how does it perform (or in toy lens/cam lovers’ perspective … ‘not perform’)? The lens is TINY! It is even smaller than the Pentax 25mm… >> read more
