Test Driving The Sony RX1

Written by • Feb 25th, 2013 • Category: Lead Story
So this is one hell of an expensive camera … one that has caused much excitement (and disappointment about the price) with a full frame sensor and a killer lens. I took one for a short test drive to see how awesome it is and managed to capture a handful of photos today. Street photography is fun with this almost silent camera. The 35mm lens makes it a wonderful tool for street photography. Colors are pretty awesome although I prefer using the ‘neutral’ setting instead of the ‘standard’ one. I’ll… >> read more

On The Streets With Q

Written by • Apr 14th, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
Finally Saturday is here and I can give the Pentax Q a test run. Unfortunately … while I was holding it without a wrist strap (duh!), Fitzand knocked it off my hand and now the cute little Q has some scars. Thank God it still functions well. I did some low light shots to test how the little sensor performs but I’ll post them later. So far I find the low light performance is pretty good despite the tiny sensor but if you wanna know more accurate info about it… >> read more

Happy Father’s Day!

Written by • Jun 19th, 2011 • Category: Digital stuffs
It was just like yesterday that I posted a blog entry that had a photo of a little ‘badge’ that Fitzand made me last year for Father’s Day 2010. I remember the ‘badge’ said that I am #1 and he was going ‘you are #1!!!’ in public … making me wanna go hide under some table. One year later … I still think I’m #1 … yeah … #1 to collapse from the ever tiring task of entertaining him. The card he made me this year (of course with the… >> read more

So Far So Good!

Written by • Jan 15th, 2011 • Category: Digital stuffs
It’s Saturday and the weekend has been so far so good. After a short delay, I finally unpacked all the ‘girls’ (aka Diana cameras) and placed them back in my cabinet. I bet they were wondering what had happened since I collected them back from ThirtySix. 😀 As usual … weekends (at least most of the hours) are time spent with family (99% for Fitzand, 1% for wifey) … we took him out shopping and had an awesome brunch. Of course Mr Itchy Fingers couldn’t resist some snapshots … Fitzand… >> read more

Yeah … Very Funny!

Cindy (aka Cyanwater) from ThirtySix gave Fitzand a Christmas present that he loved lots. It was a disposable camera called ‘LOL CAM’ and he wanted to use it the moment he ripped apart the box (in the car!). I managed to stop him and later taught him how to use it. Luckily his finger was long enough to reach the front to press (and hold) the flash button. I thought that roll of 24 exposure film wouldn’t last an hour … since I decided to just leave it to him… >> read more

12 Frames Here & There

Written by • Jan 7th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
Something shocking happened during my trip to Taiwan recently. I opened up my camera bag … removed the back from my Diana F+ and … OMG!!! I forgot to bring along an empty 120 spool and also the bottom plate that holds the roll of film in place! I removed it to install the instant back some time ago but forgot to place it back! Oh no! For a second my plan to fire at least a roll with the camera went up in smoke. A few seconds later I… >> read more

15 May 2010

Written by • May 16th, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
I managed to get my Instant Back for my LC-A+ installed last night. It arrived after quite a wait but now it is available at ThirtySix and thank God … installation went smoothly and it was ready to be used in minutes. The bad news is that when I brought it out to do some test shots today … I forgot to bring along some CR2 batteries for it! Stupid me! Hahahha! So the day started with a quick breakfast and then off to Orchard Road for some shopping/slacking. Met… >> read more

XA4 : Back On The Streets

Written by • Mar 22nd, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
The good ol’ Olympus XA4 has always been one of my favourite camera for street shooting. The wide lens plus the boring black look (yawn!) makes things a lot more fun, especially when I love to shoot from the (fat) hip. Well I don’t actually shoot from the hip but I hold it closer to me chest instead. After some rest in the cabinet, I took it out a couple of weeks ago … and loaded it with a roll of Solaris 400 film. I remember most of these shots… >> read more

Another Busy Saturday

Written by • Feb 6th, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
Woke up this morning and was greeted by a message on my phone … saying that there will be a ‘photo clinic session’ (more like a talk/intro) about film/toy camera photography at Orchard Central, organized by ThirtySix. Well who wouldn’t wanna go take a look at what Jimmy (the boss) has to say, so I brought my family (yeah … the entire army to go support!) to check out the session at 3:30pm. Here’s a couple of shots taken at the ‘photo clinic session’. Click on the image below for… >> read more

The Butcher Is King

Written by • Jan 17th, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
“In the land of the pig, the butcher is king” Brought my family for breakfast and some shopping along Orchard Rd yesterday and while lurking around ION Orchard, Fitzand saw some posters of some cute pigs and told us that he wants them. Pigs? They are actually piggy shaped buns found in a Chinese restaurant upstairs. After some shopping, we bought him there and he was thrilled to see the ‘piggies’. LOL! The cute round piggies costs S$3 for two. Fitzand tried feeding them with cashew nut. LOL! Enough feeding… >> read more
