On The Streets With Q

Written by • Apr 14th, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
Finally Saturday is here and I can give the Pentax Q a test run. Unfortunately … while I was holding it without a wrist strap (duh!), Fitzand knocked it off my hand and now the cute little Q has some scars. Thank God it still functions well. I did some low light shots to test how the little sensor performs but I’ll post them later. So far I find the low light performance is pretty good despite the tiny sensor but if you wanna know more accurate info about it… >> read more

Doubles With Lee Jiing

Written by • Apr 3rd, 2012 • Category: Fun with film
Finally I am able to finish shooting a roll of Velvia 50 passed to me by a friend who just came back to Singapore. I’ve known Lee Jiing for some years but I’ve never met him! Hahaha! As we were both super busy, he dropped the roll at ThirtySix a couple of weeks ago and I picked it up that same evening. Check out his blog here. I’ve never seen him doing any Lomo or toy camera stuffs (he’s into some big time toys … hehehe!) … so when he… >> read more

A Nicer Strap

Written by • Mar 14th, 2012 • Category: Toys
If there is one thing I don’t like about the Pentax K-01 … it has to be the strap (other than the rubbery SD slot cover). Not only I find it ugly … I also find it too short. Looking for a replacement … I found this pretty neat and comfy Matin strap … with the word ‘Pentax’ on it. I ain’t no fanboy of any brand but I thought the orange colored text looks good with the yellow cammie. 😛 Before I say goodbye to the original one that… >> read more

The Bumblebee Cam

Written by • Mar 3rd, 2012 • Category: Toys
The boxy and pretty weird looking Pentax K-01 arrived in stores yesterday and after breakfast today … I dragged Fitzand along to the shop to pick up a set. Not sure if it was a right thing to bring him along because what originally was supposed to be a black version … ended up … yellow. That’s just because I asked to take a look at the yellow one and Fitzand’s eyes suddenly went all time big and went ‘Daddy! This one nice! Bumblebee (blame Transformers!) camera! Buy this one!’.… >> read more

Edge 80 On The Street

Written by • Feb 26th, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
Some random test shots with the Lensbaby Edge 80 optic yesterday. Didn’t have much time to shoot though. I’m beginning to get used to focusing with this optic although shooting moving subjects is sure a big challenge. Luckily focus was okay when he suddenly gave me the thumbs-up! Okay … so few of these (above) are still subjects but these below are the more challenging ones … That’s all for now. Gotta go get a shower and run off to my clients place. Gotta do migration and upgrades for several… >> read more

Edge 80 Goes Out To Play

Written by • Feb 22nd, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
Got an invitation to attend Fujifilm Singapore’s launch of the X-Pro1 camera today but I sneaked outta it when everyone were busy giving a go at the cameras. There were pretty models and cool macro stuffs for us to try the X-Pro1 on but after sneaking out to reply some urgent messages … I decided to get myself a few pints of cold beer and … whip out my DSLR & Lensbaby … with the Edge 80 optic. Yeah … I’ve got serious attitude problem. 😛 Wondering what I feel… >> read more

Lensbaby Edge 80

Written by • Feb 21st, 2012 • Category: Toys
Thanks to those fun people from Lensbaby, a copy of the Edge 80 arrived at my office today. Unfortunately it was close to midnight by the time I had time for myself (and my cameras), so giving this cool lens a proper test run is not quite possible (old folks need sleep too!). Anyway … here are some photos I took of the lens coupled with my K5 … The Edge 80 Optic is an 80mm f/2.8 flat field of focus optic with a 12-blade adjustable aperture and is perfect… >> read more

Lovin It Ugly

Written by • Feb 2nd, 2012 • Category: Others
Trouble began when I read about rumors of a mirrorless camera from Pentax that accepts any K-mount lens. Now I’m glad I didn’t sell off any of the few Limited silver lenses I have and soon … those lovely lenses (including my Lensbabies!) will have a new mommy (my silver K5 is the daddy!). Well … this mommy ain’t the slim and sexy type though. Hahahaha! She’s ermm … boxy and ermm … weird … but I’m loving it! 16.28 Megapixel CMOS sensor form the K-5 New Prime M imaging… >> read more

Tuning Up For The New Year

Written by • Jan 21st, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
Finally I put the (very little) effort to try shove in a little AF fine tuning adjustment to my K5 paired with 85mm lens. I’ve always had this feeling that it is back/front focusing a little but couldn’t bothered to fine tune it (until today) and after a few minutes of testing and tweaking … eventually a +2 value for the AF fine tuning seems necessary for this solid old lens. Since I’m sort of ‘grounded’ today … the only ‘target’ I could test the AF fine adjustment on …… >> read more

Merry Christmas!

Written by • Dec 25th, 2011 • Category: Digital stuffs
Merry Christmas everyone! It has been raining these couple of days and a cooling Christmas this is, but I’m sure everyone is having lots of fun. Since Christmas this year falls on a Sunday … it will be a super-duper-fun non-working day tomorrow! While Fitzand is taking his nap … I’ll post some snapshots I took these couple of days before heading out to a friend’s place for dinner. These portraits were randomly shot yesterday while playing with him yesterday. He told me to send the photos as Christmas cards… >> read more
