Japan In Analogue (Roll 1)

Written by • Nov 22nd, 2012 • Category: Fun with film
Here’s the first roll of film from my vacation last week. I didn’t shoot many rolls as I was too busy entertaining the little one (as usual). If you have seen the video (of him) I posted … you can probably guess how busy I was … being his private videographer. Anyway … here’s a roll of long expired Sensia 400 cross processed. These were shot using my Pentax MZ-S which I lugged along … planning to buy a used lens for it … but ended up not doing so… >> read more

Pentax MZ-S + Solaris 200

Written by • Oct 2nd, 2012 • Category: Fun with film
This test roll took a bit longer than expected to complete. A roll of long expired Solaris 200 was used to test the Pentax MZ-S I bought some weeks ago … paired with an old Pentax F 50mm f1.7 lens. This has been the SLR I’ve long wanted and eventually I gave up on the search for an affordable silver one and settled for a black version. The autofocus makes it easier for my old eyes but I tend to get too trigger happy when things get too easy. LOL.… >> read more

Warming Up The F3

Written by • Aug 7th, 2012 • Category: Fun with film
Left with not much time and inspiration to shoot, I recently pulled out my old Nikon F3 and loaded a roll of Lomo negatives to give the camera a ‘warm up’. It has been sitting in there (cabinet) for a while now and I sure don’t want it do die a natural death in there. Thank God it still works great! I only have 2 lenses for the F3 and these were all shot using the Carl Zeiss 50mm f1.4 lens. The other one is an el cheapo macro lens… >> read more

Doubles With Lee Jiing

Written by • Apr 3rd, 2012 • Category: Fun with film
Finally I am able to finish shooting a roll of Velvia 50 passed to me by a friend who just came back to Singapore. I’ve known Lee Jiing for some years but I’ve never met him! Hahaha! As we were both super busy, he dropped the roll at ThirtySix a couple of weeks ago and I picked it up that same evening. Check out his blog here. I’ve never seen him doing any Lomo or toy camera stuffs (he’s into some big time toys … hehehe!) … so when he… >> read more

Scanned The Rest

Written by • Nov 25th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
Finally done scanning the rest of the photos from my 1st roll of DIY developed black & white film (a roll of Neopan 400). You will find most of these are very random shots … ranging from puppies to chickens, from broken cups to wheelbarrows … as I was trying (very) hard to finish the roll during a trip to a relative’s place in Malaysia last weekend. I somehow ‘had to prepare’ a roll to try out DIY developing when I get back here and I am sure glad I… >> read more

Partner For My 50mm

Written by • Oct 11th, 2011 • Category: Toys
After some waiting … finally found a small & solid SLR to partner my 50mm manual lens. Some local seller eventually lowered his asking price for this minty Pentax LX … and the green covering on it is a bonus! “It is a SLR which has its body structure made of rugged, die cast aluminum-alloy and equipped with a very reliable horizontally traveled Titanium electro-mechanical shutter, which provides a range of variable mechanical shutter speeds that will still be functional and withstanding temperatures down to -30C even in a battery-free… >> read more

Fisheyed + Redscaled Planes

Written by • May 27th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
Got a little too trigger happy yesterday at the Air Force open house preview and burned a roll of redscale film loaded in my Pentax MZ-30 coupled with the Lensbaby Scout + fisheye optic combo. It was a super darn hot day but somehow the roll still turned out underexposed. Bah! Well at least I know the next time I use redscale on the cam … I’ll probably compensate the exposure by +1 (or is it +2?). I was a little disappointed after scanning the first two shots but then… >> read more

Pentax MZ-3 : Test Run

Written by • May 9th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
Finally a roll of Lomo Xpro 100 loaded into a Pentax MZ-3 I bought some time ago to maximize the use of my 43mm lens is done, developed and scanned. I was pretty confident the camera body will work great as I picked it up from an old friend and since it is an autofocus one … shooting was real easy and fun. What puzzled me (and still is) was that even though I set the lens to f1.9 … the display on the camera showed f2.0. Perhaps there is… >> read more

The Good, The Tragic

Written by • Mar 24th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
Celebrating their ‘One Impossible Year’, the Impossible Project recently launched a pair of special edition PX600 UV+ film … the Black Frame Edition & Grey Frame Edition. Lucky me … I managed to intoxicate the guy from ThirtySix with lots of beer last week and grabbed myself a ‘sample pack’. Hahahaha! Don’t let him you know this trick. Okay? Perhaps I should stay away from these (pretty expensive) cool film. Why? I’m always making big mistakes when handling the Polaroid cams. Duh. I wasted two on some very boring subjects… >> read more

Toy Lens : First Look

Written by • Mar 4th, 2011 • Category: Digital stuffs
This new toy arrived at my desk … just a day after I placed an order (from Hong Kong). Super fast! The Toy Lens from SLR Magic … a lens that a blog reader/friend … ‘poisoned’ me with recently. You know who you are?!!! With a focal length of 26mm (which equals a 52mm on M4/3) … this little lens sure sounds fun! So how does it perform (or in toy lens/cam lovers’ perspective … ‘not perform’)? The lens is TINY! It is even smaller than the Pentax 25mm f1.4… >> read more
