White Gone, Silver Here

Written by • Mar 26th, 2011 • Category: Toys
The white Pentax K-x finally left me after a year or so. The good thing is since I bought it at a great price in Tokyo … selling it off at a very very minimal loss today didn’t hurt a bit. What originally supposed to be a DSLR body to be used with my Lensbabies … ended up doubling as a camera I photograph Fitzand with. I got tempted by a couple of Pentax’s ‘Limited’ series silver lenses and pairing them with the K-x was fine … but AF speed… >> read more

Fuzzyeyeballs Vs RF

Written by • Aug 31st, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
Some of you might already know that I ain’t one who can use a rangefinder camera properly. Blame my old fuzzy eyeballs … I usually have problem focusing with that little patch in the viewfinder. Hahaha! I’ve tried several rangefinders (without film in them) and concluded that I might go blind if I ever finish shooting 36 frames in one. Recently a friend passed me his Bessa R2A and told me to give it a try. I knew it will be quite a challenge but for the fun (and pain)… >> read more

LC-A+ In Tokyo : Last Roll

Written by • Jun 9th, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
It sucks to not have any photos (film) to scan because that is a sign that I haven’t been having fun lately. On the other hand … it sucks even more to have some film to scan but just can’t find time to do it. Okay … let’s rule out the possibility of sending the roll to be scanned at the lab because making a trip there, waiting for the scanning and collecting it … I could have finished scanning it at home and gulped a few cups of coffee.… >> read more

Lonely No More

Written by • Jun 3rd, 2010 • Category: Toys
Ever since I found that pancake lens to use on my Nikon FA … I find myself not wanting to remove it (from the body) and thus my 50mm lens got neglected for a while. I took pity on it and managed to find a good condition black Nikon F3 to ‘accompany’ the poor lonely lens and I really love the combo! The moment I held that F3 in my hands … I could feel that it is solid like a tank! Cool! A little heavy but might be handy… >> read more

Redscaling In Disney

Written by • May 20th, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
I somehow suspect the metering on my LC-A+ is a little crazy now … after the couple of rolls screwed up during my doubles exchange with Fabienne from France. That was because I underexposed my rolls and they ended up darker than they should be and almost all my exposures were not visible. I forgot about that matter when I loaded a roll of redscale film into my LC-A+ during my Tokyo trip recently. Gosh. I was a little worried when I remembered that I didn’t do any compensation (of… >> read more

LC-A+ In Japan (Roll 2)

Written by • May 13th, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
After scanning the roll of Sensia last week, I just couldn’t find enough time to get the images outta the 2nd roll. This second roll is another roll of randoms but this time … using Fujichrome MS 100/1000. It has become one of my favourite film for cross processing and I simply love the different colors it produces under different lighting. Some of these were taken indoors at the mall near the hotel in Disney … and look how steady my hand was! Hahaha! Yeah … I didn’t touch beer… >> read more

Holga + T400CN : Tokyo

Written by • May 5th, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
I remember having to pour out the contents of my camera bag for the airport security guy (Narita Airport) and showed him my cams and chargers etc. He then put them all in 2 trays to re-scan them. He later came back to me and handed back my stuffs and held up my Holga … and said ‘Camera!’. I was wondering if he was asking me if that ugly plastic is a camera or was he telling me it is a cool camera. Hmm. Nevermind. I threw in the Holga… >> read more

Disneyland Video : Test

Written by • May 3rd, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
Since I had the newly acquired K-x with me in Tokyo, I wanted to try shooting some video clips with it. Using the kit lens, I happily switched the cam to video mode but later realised I was struggling to get things right. First was the focusing. I later realised that maybe I should be using it in AF-C mode because focusing was going all crazy with those stuffs in the parade moving in and out. The other thing is the exposure. I ain’t sure how to actually make it… >> read more

Tokyo : The Streets 4

Written by • May 3rd, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
Perhaps the last set of the street shots from Tokyo. I might have one or two hiding in some other folders but for now … these are all I can find and thank God for the batch action in Photoshop … I just ran a batch job to resize them for web. No other editing done on them as they were all shot using my E-PL1 in the Grainy B&W mode. There are a couple of photos in this set that were captured while dining in some crowded shops and… >> read more

Tokyo 2010 : Analogues 1

Written by • May 1st, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
While I was busy with Fitzand … I somehow was able to squeeze out a few rolls out from my LC-A+. This one is a roll of Sensia III (ISO100) that I bought when I was out shopping with Mijonju. Well I can’t remember if I’ve used Sensia before … so I bought 2 rolls of these to try them out. Got them cross processed and the colors looks pretty neat! Indoor shots seem to have a warmer red color while the outdoor ones look like the usual Sensia colors… >> read more
