Darth Vader Cam!

Written by • Sep 27th, 2010 • Category: Toys
Many years after selling off what I thought was the ugliest camera ever (the Orbit 360F), I stumbled upon another one that is a little butt ugly but has a weird futuristic look. Introduced in 1991, the Konica Aiborg is sometimes referred to as the ‘Darth Vader camera’ by some. It has a 35-105 zoom lens, is pretty heavy despite the plastic body and rubbery grip. It arrived just the other day and here are some photos & info about it … On the top of the camera … there… >> read more

Spinner : First Look

Written by • Jun 16th, 2010 • Category: Toys
I know it ain’t cheap but I thought to spend about S$200 on such a special newly invented weird camera is worth the pain. Well that’s what I thought … until some friend told me it is more like a copy of another camera. Huh? Really? I’ve never seen one! So he gave me this link and some four letter words came out flying from my filthy mouth. 😛 I must be blind or do I not see this Spinshot 35S being mentioned in the ‘History of 360 Photography’ section… >> read more

Creative Aperture : Test 1

Written by • May 31st, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
Found a couple of blank aperture discs in my drawer (for the Lensbaby) just the other day and thought it might be cool to try doing some unique ones instead of those made by using craft punchers. It can also try submitting them for the Lensbaby’s ‘Creative Aperture Kit Contest’ and try my luck there. The usual problem of not having time to go out shooting was still bugging me, so I had to try take some test shots from inside my car, at home and while waiting for wifey… >> read more

15 May 2010

I managed to get my Instant Back for my LC-A+ installed last night. It arrived after quite a wait but now it is available at ThirtySix and thank God … installation went smoothly and it was ready to be used in minutes. The bad news is that when I brought it out to do some test shots today … I forgot to bring along some CR2 batteries for it! Stupid me! Hahahha! So the day started with a quick breakfast and then off to Orchard Road for some shopping/slacking. Met… >> read more

Articulating LCDs? Nah!

Written by • Feb 9th, 2010 • Category: Others
Stumbled upon this super futuristic cool camera design and thought you guys might be interested to take a look at it. It is suppose to allow the user to take photos from all sort of angles. With this, people do not have to bitch about some new cameras not having those articulating LCD monitors anymore. “Fleximus camera is a flexible tube with a lens. You can choose to mount either a compact view finder or a three-inch display module.” Maybe I can shove it down my throat to take some… >> read more

Food Play

Written by • Jul 9th, 2009 • Category: Digital stuffs
I was munching cashew nuts a while ago (with a can of ice cold beer) and something struck my mind. I was suddenly ‘transported’ back to few years ago when I loved ‘messing around’ with food and take photos of them. For a moment … I stared at the nuts and some crazy ideas brewed in my mind. Oh no! I’m not sure if I’ll get into that bad habit of messing with food and taking ‘weird’ photos of them like I used to back then (in 2007). So I… >> read more

Infrared With G6

Written by • May 31st, 2009 • Category: Digital stuffs
The last time I took IR photographs was probably using a Canon 20D modified by some experts and I’ve never touched IR since because I sold the camera off. The 20D wasn’t my first IR camera. I (foolishly & bravely) modified 2 units of Canon G2 before but sold them off to friends later on. As I was cleaning my cabinet, I found an old Canon G6 and thought I could maybe try modifying it for IR too. Usually doing such modification is one bloody risky business. I will need… >> read more
