Nevermind this lousy Photoshopped attempt I did below. Hehehe. It’s just that this little thing I did to my E-P1 that somehow remind me of the Stormtroopers and I couldn’t help but put my very lousy Photoshop skills to use … just to amuse myself.<\/p>\n

So what the hell did I do to my E-P1? After an attempt at making a Diana lens for it (which works pretty well, pending more test shots), I decided to try using my Lomo Colorsplash flash on it. Bad news. It doesn’t fire. Apparently I was told that only certain units of the Colorsplash flash works on digital cameras. Huh? Anyway … I was a little disappointed until I thought of something else. How about a cool white Diana F+ flash on the E-P1? That will be a perfect combo if it ever can work! First attempt a couple of days ago failed. The E-P1 doesn’t seem to fire the Diana F+ flash (of course mounted using the hotshoe adapter that came with the flash).<\/p>\n

I thought of trying it again this evening but this time, I mount the hotshoe adapter the other way round (since there doesn’t seem to be anything in the instruction that says which side should face the front). Yeah … I was risking my sexy E-P1 but hey … someone’s gotta do the dirty job of trying it. Swiched on the camera … press the shutter release button … *flash*. What? Hey it works!!!! The E-P1 can now trigger the sexy white Diana F+ flash!!!<\/p>\n

Sexy ain’t it? The cool flash makes the E-P1 look more retro than ever! Yipeee! The flash is from the glow-in-the-dark ‘GLOW’ version of the Diana F+ camera. The other one that comes with white flash is the limited edition Colette version of the camera. I’ve not seen a white flash sold separately in the online Lomography store though.<\/p>\n

So does it work fine? Definitely! I’ve not much time to do many test shots but here are a few that I took using the green color gel for the flash (to get … ermmm … a cross processed look). I wanted to get a toy camera look from the photos, so I used the plastic lens on the Composer for these.<\/p>\n

Trying out the flash in Art Filter mode (using Pinhole effect). With the Lensbaby and color flash, the pinhole effect with all the vignetting looks way cooler.<\/em><\/p>\n

Double exposure mode also is pretty fun! Too bad I was too lazy to change the color gel on the flash. I think using two colors for the two exposures will give some wild crazy cool results.<\/em><\/p>\n

Tada~ That’s it! A new fun combo that I can have fun with this weekend. Of course it will never take the place of my Diana cameras or any other ‘toy’ cameras but at least I’ve discovered another fun thing to do with my E-P1.<\/p>\n
