Early X’mas Presents

Written by • Nov 27th, 2010 • Category: Toys
I remember a couple of years back, my first Christmas present for that year came early … in the form of a package from Lensbaby. This year … it is like deja vu … a juicy parcel landed at my office the day I started work after my short vacation! That made the first day at work (a little) better. ๐Ÿ˜€ Too bad it was too late for my trip, otherwise I’d have lugged my DSLR with the (Lens)babies along. Anyway … there is always a next vacation. ๐Ÿ˜€ There… >> read more

Change Of Mount

Written by • May 2nd, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
Guess some of you might already know that I picked up a white Pentax K-x while I was in Japan … just to use with my Lensbabies. Unfortunately the Pentax mount that Lensbaby was supposed to send me has not arrive when I left for Japan … so I couldn’t test/use it there. Anyway … it arrived when I was away and I got it installed the day before. I decided to take a couple of snapshots … in case anyone would be interested. Each lens mount is held by… >> read more

Fireworks : NY Eve 2010

Written by • Jan 1st, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
I thought the first blog entry for this new year has gotta be this! I am trying to post this as soon as possible and then grab some sleep before waking up about 5 hours later to catch the first sunrise of the year. Half an hour ago, I was standing at my window with my Canon SX1is mounted on the tripod trying to catch some shots of the fireworks. I was too darn lazy to use my DSLR and furthermore I’ve sold off all my tele lenses and I… >> read more

When Old Meets New

Written by • Dec 30th, 2009 • Category: Digital stuffs
Dug out a beautiful condition Canon IVsb rangefinder camera from my cabinet just the other day to give the (cloth) shutter some workout. This time I loaded a roll of cheap expired negative to give it another round of exercise but managed to only shoot 4 shots. Hahaha! Damn. I have a big problem with the tiny viewfinder on that super old and cool looking camera. Suddenly I got an idea to put that camera + lens to better use. I can use that lens on my E-P1!!! I’ve read… >> read more

Infrared With No Camera

Written by • Nov 28th, 2009 • Category: Digital stuffs
I woke up feeling a little sad … thinking that today is Sunday! Phew! Yesterday was a public holiday and that was the reason why I woke up in cold sweat. It is not that I hate Sundays but they are always a bit too close to blue Mondays. Recently … despite the slight drizzle sometimes … the weather is pretty good. A friend buzzed me to join him for a short walk in the park to test out an Infrared converted camera and I rushed there … without my… >> read more

Diana F+ Lens Adaptors?

Written by • Sep 16th, 2009 • Category: Toys
Lomography probably got tired of making more variations of the Diana F+ clones for a while and decided to make something a little different. Lens adaptors to use the Diana F+ lenses on SLRs/DSLRs! I’ll grab one ofย  these if they do have an adaptor for the Micro 4/3 … for my Olympus E-P1. Now I’m tempted to go DIY one for the Micro 4/3 mount! For now … it comes in Canon EOS and Nikon F mount only … and costs US$12 each. I’ll be a little worried using… >> read more

Customer Happiness?

Written by • Aug 4th, 2009 • Category: Others
It has been a while since I received the sponsored Muse from Lensbaby but only recently I took the effort to email them about a slight ‘problem’ I had with the copy of Canon mount lens. The lens seemed to be easily removed when mounted on my camera body, so I was really worried I might accidentally turn it a little and the ‘baby’ will go rolling into some drain. So one night, I wrote to them explaining about this ‘problem’ I have and the next morning … I got… >> read more

Pop & Stars

Written by • Aug 2nd, 2009 • Category: Fun with film
Woke up this morning and was greeted by a SMS from Jimmy (of 8storeytree.com) telling me that I’ve won a POP9 camera in the Lomography + Jones Soda Competition – Pop 09 contest (week 3)! Yay!!! I’ve always wanted to own one of these cameras but somehow I managed to put off buying it for years already. Someone once gave me a ‘almost-dead’ one and I ‘dressed it up’ (check it out here) but too bad the flash is spoilt and the cover comes apart too easily. I must thank… >> read more

Lensbabies Goes M43

Written by • Jul 15th, 2009 • Category: Digital stuffs
What originally planned was to use only the 17mm f2.8 pancake lens on my E-P1 somehow didn’t last long. First I thought why not get an adapter to use the lens on my Pen F camera and later I had the itch to try using my Lensbabies on it. Duh! This means I’ll need two adapters! Ordered a Pen F to M43 adapter from ebay but it has not arrived as I’m typing this but managed to grab a Canon EF to M43 one from a local online camera store… >> read more

IR After Sunrise

Written by • Jun 6th, 2009 • Category: Digital stuffs
Right after we finished shooting the sunrise and since I had some time before rushing home to bring my family out for an outing, I decided to take some infrared photos using the recently modified Canon G6. It wasn’t that sunny yet and I had to endure slightly long exposures … but luckily my tripod was with me. I’ve mentioned that I usually prefer black & white infrared photos before but this time I decided to leave it with some colors with the usual ‘standard’ infrared post-processing method of channel… >> read more
