Got an invitation to attend Fujifilm Singapore’s launch of the X-Pro1 camera today but I sneaked outta it when everyone were busy giving a go at the cameras. There were pretty models and cool macro stuffs for us to try the X-Pro1 on but after sneaking out to reply some urgent messages … I decided to get myself a few pints of cold beer and … whip out my DSLR & Lensbaby … with the Edge 80 optic. Thanks to those fun people from Lensbaby, a copy of the Edge 80 arrived at my office today. Unfortunately it was close to midnight by the time I had time for myself (and my cameras), so giving this cool lens a proper test run is not quite possible (old folks need sleep too!). I feel in love with the simple yet awesome photos she takes and posts in Facebook and when I saw that she has this lovely ‘Portland Vignettes’ book published … I didn’t think twice about ordering a copy. I got to know Keri through Lensbaby (she’s a lucky devil to work in a company making fun lenses!).

Sometimes ideas come at the strangest moments. I sort of gave up trying to think of a new idea/design for the project mentioned in my previous blog entry and today … while out having brunch with some friends … my old brain suddenly went ‘zaaaaap!’ and I now have a pretty cool (I hope) idea for it! It is gonna take some effort (or rather … a lot of them) but I’m sure if it turns out well … it’s gonna be cool (I hope again)!

Yeah … my Lensbaby Composer has gone pro. Received the Pro version of the Composer from Lensbaby yesterday and it answered all my questions before about how different can it be from the normal version. After drawing a Hello Kitty leaving a big ‘X’ on the polling slip for the Presidential Election this morning, we went out for a great breakfast with some friends and then spent some time doing some shopping … and of course for me … some shooting!

This is probably the last ‘investment’ I’m ever gonna make on my X-100 and it arrived in the mail today. A ThumbsUp CSEP-2 that was originally designed for the Leica X1. It fits perfectly on the X-100 and now it is way easier shooting with one hand (which I do often as I’ve to hold on tight to my little Energizer bunny, Fitzand) and I don’t have to try keep a good grip on the camera anymore.

Two years ago I had to abandon my Lensbaby Diary (a Lensbaby photo a day project) as I just couldn’t find time to shoot every day. Well it is not too different now but since Fitzand is turning 4 next month and I’ve a bit more ‘breathing space’, I’ll give this project another go.

Merry Christmas!!! Some find it hard to believe that I turned down invitations to go grab some beer last night (on Xmas eve) but it is very true that I made the decision to spend the evening at home with my family instead. I remember a couple of years back, my first Christmas present for that year came early … in the form of a package from Lensbaby. This year … it is like deja vu … a juicy parcel landed at my office the day I started work after my short vacation! That made the first day at work (a little) better.
