A LC-Wide Miracle Roll!

Written by • May 30th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
It has been quite some worrying hours since the night shoot with Jim & Noreen on Saturday night (you can read about it here) as I was really hoping to see some of my own first photos with the LC-W. I quickly fired away the remaining frames yesterday and made a dash to the lab during lunch today. The moment the guy at the lab handed me the film strips … I asked him ‘gone case?’ and he replied ‘not really … got things!’. Miracle happened! Well … at least… >> read more

Fisheyed + Redscaled Planes

Written by • May 27th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
Got a little too trigger happy yesterday at the Air Force open house preview and burned a roll of redscale film loaded in my Pentax MZ-30 coupled with the Lensbaby Scout + fisheye optic combo. It was a super darn hot day but somehow the roll still turned out underexposed. Bah! Well at least I know the next time I use redscale on the cam … I’ll probably compensate the exposure by +1 (or is it +2?). I was a little disappointed after scanning the first two shots but then… >> read more

World Pinhole Day 2011

Written by • Apr 25th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
It was a super crazy hot day at the zoo yesterday as I joined some friends there for a World Pinhole Day outing. To make things worse, I had Fitzand with me and he was distracting me so often when I was trying to count the number of seconds whenever I start exposing the shots. Hahaha! Stressed! ‘Best’ of all was when I loaded the roll of 120 into the Multi Pinhole Operator … it (the film) suddenly snapped before I managed to advance to frame #1. Argh!!! Luckily I… >> read more

How To : Strip In Strips

Written by • Feb 24th, 2011 • Category: Others
I received several emails asking how exactly I took those photos in the recent ‘Strip In Strips‘ entry and since I ain’t good with words … and even worse at describing things … I thought why not I try use some images to try explain it. Since this is a double exposure thingie … first you need to make sure you compensate exposure accordingly … like how you would normally do (when doing double exposures). For the first exposure … I took photos of a film strip. For best result… >> read more

Strip In Strips

Written by • Feb 13th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
Frankly … I was almost bored to death during my trip to Malaysia for the Lunar New Year recently. Luckily I managed to get my dad to make a trip to the store to get me a prepaid internet access SIM card. However … I was still super busy having to look after Fitzand and trying to recover from hangovers. 😛 In between these stuffs … I finished a roll of the Lomo Chrome 100 Xpro film (in a week). It was actually meant to be a roll of ‘first… >> read more

Bring On The Blues!

Written by • Nov 28th, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
This is definitely not the first time I’m screwing up a roll of redscale film … just because I forgot to compensate the exposure while shooting. The entire roll looks pretty underexposed and scanning the first few frames got me all down. The photos were like all grainy … lots of weird blue ‘dots’ … and a couple of long blue streaks (scratched?) all over some of them. I thought I might as well send the film strips straight to the garbage bin but some crazy idea came knocking on… >> read more

Instant In A Box

Written by • Jul 23rd, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
This is probably something I had been working on for the longest time (just like trying to quit smoking). The original plan was to make an instant pinhole camera using a dead old Polaroid EE100 but after some initial disappointment and some headaches trying to remove the parts off the camera … I decided to work on a totally different DIY instant pinhole camera. The mess I got from trying to modify the EE100 into an instant pinhole. LOL! I couldn’t remove the part where the original lens used to… >> read more

F3 And FE2

Written by • Jul 3rd, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
It has been weeks since the personal warranty period given to me by the guy who sold me the minty F3 is over and I’ve just (finally) finished the test roll on it. Things got a bit slow (the test roll) and I had to take a risk and hoped that the camera works fine … and it was quite a good thing to see that at least the metering still works great. This test roll is a long expired Mitsubishi 200 film which I pretty like and I remember… >> read more

Stigma : The Last Shot

Written by • May 27th, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
Found an old (and dead) Polaroid EE100 in my drawer last night and suddenly I remembered that there should be some film left in there. That pack of FP-100C was in there ages ago when I tried modifying the dead camera into a pinhole one but the mod got abandoned when little Fitzand arrived in this world … 3 years ago! Poor EE100 … ready to be wheeled into the operating theater but I am still too busy to complete the mod. Notice the lens already ripped out but the… >> read more

Another No So Doubles

Written by • Apr 21st, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
Ooooh nooooo! After the earlier roll that I sent Fabienne in France for a doubles collaboration, comes another roll that has my exposures that are mostly barely visible. My exposures seem to end up as ‘textures’ for hers. Hahaha! Maybe there’s something not right about my camera that underexposes it further even when I just underexposed it by 1 stop. Grrrr! I’ve a roll from her that I’ve yet to expose and guess I’ll not underexpose it when I use it later. This one below seems to survive best …… >> read more
