White Rocket, Silver Pancake

Written by • May 22nd, 2011 • Category: Toys
After a recent ‘brave’ attempt at converting my black Sprocket Rocket to gold … I was on the hunt for a replacement and Cindy (from ThirtySix) asked me why not wait a couple more days for the white version to arrive. White? Special white edition? Costs more? Grrr!!! How can I ever say ‘no’ to Queen Cyanwater? 😀 Okay … so I collected it a couple of weeks ago but was too busy to unbox it until tonight. Here are some snapshots of it … As you can see …… >> read more

World Pinhole Day 2011

Written by • Apr 25th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
It was a super crazy hot day at the zoo yesterday as I joined some friends there for a World Pinhole Day outing. To make things worse, I had Fitzand with me and he was distracting me so often when I was trying to count the number of seconds whenever I start exposing the shots. Hahaha! Stressed! ‘Best’ of all was when I loaded the roll of 120 into the Multi Pinhole Operator … it (the film) suddenly snapped before I managed to advance to frame #1. Argh!!! Luckily I… >> read more

Poorer After Lunch

Written by • Jul 29th, 2010 • Category: Toys
Sometimes I think I should just bring bread to work and stay in the office for lunch. 🙁 Made a short trip to ThirtySix and ended up with more damages to my (already badly torn) wallet. What’s the loot this time? Finally the elusive Tolne camera is on their shelves! Was torn between the green and blue but decided on the blue one because the green one is a little too bright for this old fella. No … don’t you dare ask why didn’t I buy all 4 colors! I… >> read more

Coca Kola?

Written by • Jun 4th, 2010 • Category: Others
UPDATE Sorry for the mistake but I was just informed that the retail price of this product should be around US$12 to US$15. I made a mistake about the pricing when I posted this. Sorry for the confusion. Stay tuned for more test photos. 😀 A package arrived this morning and I was a little surprised because I don’t remember buying any new toy online (unless I did it in my sleep) and in it were some samples of a pretty new product from Thailand … called ‘Kola Manual Color… >> read more

He Came, He Drank, He Bought

Written by • Dec 1st, 2009 • Category: Digital stuffs
I’ve always loved my Digital Buchineko (white version of the Digital Harinezumi) and when the recent Digital Harinezumi 2 was launched (not long after I bought the Buchineko!), I thought I’d be safe and be able to resist the temptation. It was all well until I dropped by ThirtySix (a cool local toy camera store) with a six-pack of beer. Met up with the owner, gulped some cold beer … he let me ‘have a feel’ of the Harinezumi 2. That’s when trouble began! One ‘problem’ I’ve always had with… >> read more

Ugly Lens, Ugly Food

Written by • Nov 23rd, 2009 • Category: Digital stuffs
I was out early in the morning on Saturday to view/shoot the sunrise again. This time we decided to park out butts at the Merlion Park instead of the usual sunrise shoots at the beach. That morning I didn’t really shoot much but spent more time slacking and testing out this lens that I bought used recently. It is a very funny and weird looking little lens for my Olympus E-P1. This Pentax 25mm f1.4 lens is a manual focus lens that produces photos that are pretty sharp in the… >> read more

Overdue Summary

Written by • Nov 10th, 2009 • Category: Digital stuffs
I was too busy last weekend (was it ever here at all?) and missed out my usual ‘summary’ blog entry. Hahaha. So I’ll post it now … nothing too exciting though. This is what kept me busy during the weekend. No … not only learning how to use it (I felt like an idiot when I first tried using it … despite working in the IT line for longer than forever!) but working my ass off on Saturday to earn some extra $ to pay for it. Saturday zapped past… >> read more

Plastic Surgery

Written by • Oct 11th, 2009 • Category: Digital stuffs
While the doctor might need to melt a hundred Diana cameras to get enough plastic to make me look real good … I hope you don’t get worried by this entry’s title. I am still the same me. 😀 The plastic surgery was meant for my Lensbaby instead. I wasn’t really impressed by the plastic optic kit for my Composer & Muse. Somehow although they claim that it is a plastic lens … it just wasn’t good bad enough. I wanted at least something as lousy as a Diana camera’s… >> read more

Mix It Up!

Written by • Sep 13th, 2009 • Category: Fun with film
Finally replenished my Instax Mini film (well … just 2 packs) and since I was feeling a little bored this afternoon when Fitzand was taking his nap … I decided to try this ‘mix it up’ trick. There were times I wondered why didn’t they make multi-colored filters for the normal Diana F+ camera just like what they did for the Multi Pinhole Operator (MPO) … so I decided to mix them up and see how it goes. Here’s the setup … I taped up a selected colored filter onto… >> read more

E-P1 : Black ‘n’ White

Written by • Aug 11th, 2009 • Category: Digital stuffs
Yet to try the Monochrome mode in my E-P1, so I decided to take some random shots during my long weekend in Malaysia to see how it performs. I set the camera to Monochrome mode with red filter and also upped the saturation to +2. Most of these shots were taken at around ISO800. These are not straight-out-of-the-camera shots because I did some level adjustment to them to give them a darker feel. However, I was pretty impressed by the Monochrome mode as well as the pretty nice grains to… >> read more
