Jr. Scientist Toy Cam

Written by • May 29th, 2012 • Category: Toys
A friend (Lee Jiing … another photography addict) posted a photo of this plastic camera that comes with the Jr. Scientist magazine on Facebook and being curious (as usual) … I dropped him a message and he told me he found it at Toys R Us while shopping for toys for his kiddos. Toys R Us! Looking very much like another one of those Gakken DIY plastic cameras … I decided to pick one up to take a look … at least get it assembled for fun … and see… >> read more

Me vs Developing Tank

Written by • Nov 23rd, 2011 • Category: Others
After years of hesitation, I was finally convinced to give DIY film development of black & white film a go. All thanks to Jimmy who even helped me pick up a set of the developing kit when he bought his recently. I rushed over to ThirtySix during lunch to pick up the stuffs and he gave me a 5 minutes crash course on how to go about developing film. Ermm … a super rush training and I left the shop still in a state of confusion. All I remembered was… >> read more

Cyan Shine Shines!

Written by • Dec 13th, 2010 • Category: Others
A friend from Lomography recently updated me about this Cyan Shine Magazine which caters to the lomography, lo-fi, analog & film crowd. They’ve just launched Issue #0 and it is available for download now (in PDF format). I downloaded it last night and I must say I’m pretty impressed with the contents. Lots and lots of beautiful cool photos and it is not peppered with adverts or some zzzzzzzz text. It features great photos from lots of great Lomographers/analogue lovers. The download (of the softcopy magazine) is a little slow… >> read more

Look Who’s Baking!

Got a little surprise just now when picking Fitzand up from the childcare center. The teacher showed me a page from a magazine and there right in front of my eyes … my Fitzand! Coolness eh? Then I suddenly remembered there was this lady going around interviewing parents during one of the event and I guess she’s writing for this. Too bad I don’t like to answer interview questions (doing it online is a bit okay though) and thus the short (super short) session with me probably ended up in… >> read more

Gakkenflex : Fun!

Written by • Nov 12th, 2009 • Category: Others
Finally got my Gakkenflex assembled and ready to go. It was really fun putting the little parts together but not being able to read Japanese (in the instructions) did make me pause a couple of times to look hard before proceeding. Some of the parts/steps were a little confusing (for me). So I decided to note those down and maybe share with everyone here … in case anyone is interested. 😀 All ready to start … after Fitzand goes to bed 😀 The final product … ready to go! The… >> read more

BBF, Eat This!

If you’ve tried using the Blackbird, Fly camera, you probably find that the images ain’t as ‘toy-like’ as you thought/hope they’ll be. Right? Well that’s how I find it and also feedback from some friends. I own a few of them but they have been sitting on my shelf as deco pieces instead of getting put to good use. Duh! Anyway … recently there is this Japanese magazine that once brought us the Gakken stereo pinhole camera … and now this volume comes with a plastic TLR! Cool! At first… >> read more

Pulsed

Written by • Oct 12th, 2009 • Category: Others
A couple of months ago, someone from Pulse.sg … a Chinese online magazine contacted me asking if I’d agree to be interviewed about my blog and some Lomo stuffs. I agreed to do it provided it is done through email (I hardly have enough time to even sleep) and in English. Hahaha. So I sent them replies and some photos … and once those are done … they asked me for my name in Chinese. Oh no! I can write it (though ugly) down in paper but how on earth… >> read more
