No … don’t come in here expecting me to write hair-raising stories about how I met my wife and stuffs like that. It’s not about her. It’s about the other woman in my life … Diana. Yeah, the ‘original’ old Diana camera, and not the Diana+ series that Lomography later introduced.
I recently took that old Diana out for a ride and after a couple of years … I still feel the same way I did when I first used it. The feel and results from an old Diana is many times better than the Diana+ cameras. At least to me.
Picked up my first Diana from a sales in the now defunct Yahoo! auction. I’m sure this lady seller ripped me off (yeah … I’m sure she’ll read this too … hehehe … yeah, Cin … you owe me big time beer!) … nah, I guess the price was reasonable. I didn’t get to try that camera until a trip to Shanghai and that was the first time I was using a camera that I didn’t even know if it will work! Thank God the two test rolls turned out good and from then on … I knew Diana was here to stay!
I do own two versions of the old Diana, one with bulb mode and the other doesn’t. One thing they both share, is the lousy old plastic lens that creates fuzzy, soft and lousy photos that I truly love.
