My Little Giving Tree

Written by • Oct 27th, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
Had an awesome time at the Books & Music Week concert organized by the childcare that Fitzand attends. This is the 2nd year he is participating in it and I was impressed by the efforts the teachers put in … to train and organise the entire performance. This year … instead of various individual performances, they did a play based on the children’s book ‘The Giving Tree’. What impressed me was … the cast was from the 2 different centres … and they were able to train the kiddos and… >> read more

Day At The Opera

Written by • Sep 30th, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
As part of the Moonfest 2012, the ‘Discovering Chinese Opera’ workshop was meant to introduce the art of Chinese opera to the young ones. It was a parent-child workshop and so after yesterday’s ‘The legend of Nezha’ performance … today I took Fitzand to the Esplanade again for the Chinese opera workshop. It was pretty interesting except for the first half an hour (or more) when the speaker was busy telling us that he is a local TV actor blah blah blah and some pretty weak slides (eg. which ministers/actors… >> read more

Test Driving The RX100

Written by • Sep 30th, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
Left without a compact digital camera (no … the Leica X1 doesn’t fit into my pockets!) for some time, I got a little ‘poisoned’ when a good friend was trying to CONvince me to buy his Sony DSC-RX100 as he is moving to *evil grin* the Fujifilm X-Pro1. After reading some many good reviews about this compact camera … pretty much convinced that it performs darn well for a compact camera … I met up with him over beer recently. My first impression of the RX100 … light and so… >> read more

Paint, Pancakes, Pain

Written by • Sep 9th, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
Keeping my promise to give Fitzand’s bedroom a makeover … I had a little discussion with him and we decided on a Power Rangers themed room since he’s a big fan of those strange heroes in colorful tight clothings who can create explosions behind them just by posing. What I didn’t realise … having to remove the hundreds of stickers on all 3 walls … was a nightmare! That wasn’t actually the biggest (and painful) part. There were a lot of double sided tapes that seemed to be of industrial… >> read more

Happy Birthday, Sentosa!

Written by • Sep 2nd, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
It is Sentosa’s 40th birthday today and we were invited for a sneak preview of some ice slides (as well as many fun activities). Of course I accepted the invite … knowing that Fitzand will definitely have a blast … and I’ll have my hands (plus eyes and ears) free to snap some photos while Fitzand plays. 😀 Dragged him outta bed around 7:30am and headed for the beach early as I anticipated that Fitzand will want to spend lots of time on the beach before the actual sneak preview.… >> read more

Sunny Rehab 2012

Written by • Aug 29th, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
The last time I joined the Sunny Rehab organized by ThirtySix was in 2010. Did I miss the one in 2011 or did they not organize one? Anyway … after Fitzand’s music lesson in the morning last Sunday … I brought him & his mommy to Bollywood Veggies to meet the many photography (film/Lomo/whatever!) fans there. They chartered a bus to bring them to few places planned for the day and since we were late … we had to skip the goat farm and started our fun at the vegetable… >> read more

Horses, Friends And Fun

Written by • Aug 18th, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
Had a wonderful day at one of Fitzand’s classmate’s birthday party at the Horse City. The kiddos had a blast there with the pony rides, games and entertainment prepared for them. They engaged a professional photographer & videographer for the event and I was trying very hard to avoid getting in their way (or into their images/videos). Luckily I managed to bring back some snapshots of Fitzand and his friends having fun. Fitzand & the birthday girl. I rush a little as Fitzand couldn’t stay still for long … and… >> read more

Minus The Bending

Missing my Lensbaby stuffs … so I took the Scout and Sweet 35 out for a spin after dinner today. Didn’t have much time to shoot … so here are just a few to cure my itchy fingers. I initially wanted to use a film SLR (to pair with a Lensbaby) but knowing that I’ll definitely take a month or more to finish that roll … I decided to use my Pentax K-01 instead. Trying to get used to manual focusing with the Lensbaby using the LCD (the K-01 doesn’t… >> read more

Photographer With Attitude

Written by • Jul 30th, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
Minutes to midnight on a Sunday night. Hours from another hell-ish day at work! I’ll try not to think that far ahead and update my blog with a short entry. I’ve only some digital snapshots to post as I only managed to fire 20 exposures in a roll of negatives loaded in my Nikon F3. That means 16 more to go … perhaps next weekend. Was out doing some shopping and after an awesome dinner at a Korean restaurant, we picked up a present for a Fitzand’s classmate who will… >> read more

ZOOming In

Written by • Jul 1st, 2012 • Category: Digital stuffs
A trip to the zoo yesterday morning gave me the opportunity to give the Fujifilm X-S1 a test drive. Not one who usually use (or see the need) of a tele lens … I found myself struggling to find subjects to shoot just to test out the camera. The zoo outing was a perfect opportunity to zoom in close to the animals! The 24-624mm lens on the X-S1 sounds perfect as a camera for everything including a 1mm close super macro mode. Will this be the travel camera I’ve always… >> read more
