The X-Pro1 Blackout

Written by • Sep 20th, 2012 • Category: Toys
AB Version? Yeah … AB = All Black! After giving a steriod shot to my X-Pro1 yesterday … in the form a version 2.0 firmware update from Fujifilm … I’m loving the camera even more. Frankly in the past (before the update), although the autofocusing is a little on the slow side … it wasn’t really a problem to me. Like I said many times before … any camera that can allow me to capture decent images of my boy (who is always moving!) is fast enough. 😀 The update… >> read more

Crossing My Path #1

Written by • Oct 26th, 2011 • Category: Digital stuffs
Checked into the hotel at Tsim Tsa Tsui and on the way for a late lunch … with just my X100 in hand … I shot everyone who crossed my path. I love street photography and I’m beginning to love using the electronic viewfinder (EVF) on the X100. The wide lens is a joy to use for street photography! I’ll probably fill up my SD card the next few days on the streets but I sure hope I can find the mood & inspiration to finish a roll of film… >> read more

The Good, The Tragic

Written by • Mar 24th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
Celebrating their ‘One Impossible Year’, the Impossible Project recently launched a pair of special edition PX600 UV+ film … the Black Frame Edition & Grey Frame Edition. Lucky me … I managed to intoxicate the guy from ThirtySix with lots of beer last week and grabbed myself a ‘sample pack’. Hahahaha! Don’t let him you know this trick. Okay? 😀 Perhaps I should stay away from these (pretty expensive) cool film. Why? I’m always making big mistakes when handling the Polaroid cams. Duh. I wasted two on some very boring… >> read more

Deciding On The Decided

Stumbled upon some images of this Philip Stein watch from their ceramic collection online recently and decided to get one for wifey. Her birthday is still a month away but I decided to get it for her now anyway and hopefully she’ll like it. The guy at the boutique told me that the watch has Natural Frequency Technology inside (WTH is that?!) that helps give better sleep and relaxes the mind (really?). I asked if he has anything that helps one stay awake … and he offered me coffee. Duh!… >> read more

Split! Spin! Split! Spin!

Written by • Aug 28th, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
Recently as I was just about to load a of film into my Spinner … I suddenly had this crazy idea to implement the Splitzer’s concept with the Spinner’s kickass long pano. So I took a closer look at the camera and reached for the ever-useful roll of black electrical tape. I thought maybe I could just tape up parts of the slot (see photo below) and then expose the roll … reload it … and then tape up the other parts of the slot to expose the other parts… >> read more

Passport Photo Fun!

Written by • Jun 27th, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
It was perhaps a few years ago when I traded a Seagull TLR with a friend’s Fujifilm FP-14. That cool, big and cool looking passport camera was given to him by someone and he didn’t see much use in it … so we traded. After that … I used it only a couple of times because the film for it ain’t cheap. *sweat* Recently I bought 5 packs of the FP-100B film … for use with my instant pinhole camera (that I’ve yet to finish modifying!) made using a Polaroid… >> read more

Rainbow Huh?

Written by • May 13th, 2010 • Category: Others
Ever since Pentax announced that their K-x DSLR will come in a variation of colors, I’ve always respected them for ‘having the balls’ to break away from the norm (black! black! black!). I got tempted with a couple of the color schemes but ended up with an all white one. Pentax Japan just announced a limited edition ‘Rainbow K-x’ and will only be available for sale on Tower Record’s Japan website. It costs 74,800 Yen and is limited to only 1000 pieces. I like the crazy wild color combo but… >> read more

Tokyo : The Streets 2

Written by • Apr 26th, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
The second batch of the street photos. I think I might have fired one too many shots this time and will try post them in few batches of 25 photos each time. 😀 All straight outta the camera … shot in ‘Grainy B&W’ mode and just resized for web. My newly found lazy yet fun way of doing street shooting with the E-PL1 without doing post-processing … seems to make me wanna go out to the street more often. We’ve just left Shinjuku today and now slacking in a hotel… >> read more

Black Peppered 120

Do you guys ever feel like you’re neglecting some of your cameras that you used to love? I do. Recently I had this weird feeling that I’ve been neglecting my Holga and thus loaded a long expired roll of Agfa Portrait into it. As some of you might know, I’m extremely busy recently trying to spend lots of time with my boy, trying to get him used to life without the *##@*&!@*&!! maid of mine … and so being trigger happy is quite a torture at the moment. Oh that… >> read more

XA4 : Back On The Streets

Written by • Mar 22nd, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
The good ol’ Olympus XA4 has always been one of my favourite camera for street shooting. The wide lens plus the boring black look (yawn!) makes things a lot more fun, especially when I love to shoot from the (fat) hip. Well I don’t actually shoot from the hip but I hold it closer to me chest instead. After some rest in the cabinet, I took it out a couple of weeks ago … and loaded it with a roll of Solaris 400 film. I remember most of these shots… >> read more
