ETRsi + 135W : Test 2

Written by • Aug 10th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
The 2nd roll from the test shoot. This time … a roll of Reala 100 which also has been sleeping in my fridge for the longest time. These shots were taken this afternoon when I took 2 hours off from babysitting Fitzand to meet up a friend in Chinatown for dim sum. Of course I took opportunity of the ‘freedom’ to burn a roll of film there! 😀 This photo (above) is my favourite from the roll. This was actually the 2nd shot of a similar scene after I waited… >> read more

Strangers

Street photography is something I always enjoy doing and with the X100 … now I’m trying to ‘relaunch’ my love for such photography. I sure wish the X100 has the ‘snap focus’ thingie that the Ricoh GRD3 offers but then … it still ain’t too bad as a street photography cammie. 😀 No longer having the luxury to take some hours off to just roam the streets to capture photos … I can only whip out my cam and fire shots while out with my boy or on family outings.… >> read more

Toy Lens : Fun?

Written by • Mar 5th, 2011 • Category: Digital stuffs
Since my last blog entry about the Toy Lens from SLR Magic, I got some requests for more sample photos and also a couple of questions … asking if I do find it fun. I decided to give up trying to write a review about this lens because … ermm … I can’t write well … I ain’t good at doing reviews … and ermmm …. I will just end up saying ‘Buy this lens! It is fun!’. 😀 Focal length : 26mm (52mm on m4/3) Aperture : f1.4 –… >> read more

Streets Of Chinatown

Written by • Jan 25th, 2011 • Category: Digital stuffs
While crawling the streets of Chinatown with Fitzand and his teachers + friends this morning … I switched my E-P1 to my favourite mode for streetshooting (grainy black & white) and fired some shots. Every time I got the opportunity to do some street shoot, I’ll keep telling myself that I should do it more often as I somehow love the thrill of getting up close (with a risk) to the subjects and trip the shutter. Maybe I’m sick of living eh? 😀 While I usually don’t bother post processing… >> read more

Chinatown Walk

Written by • Jan 25th, 2011 • Category: Digital stuffs
The childcare center organized a short outing to Chinatown this morning and I accompanied Fitzand there. Honestly I was a little worried because the last time I was there (one evening many years ago), the crowd was scary and I almost fainted after 10 minutes. Fortunately the outing was in the morning and the crowd hasn’t build up (yet). Phew! As parents were with the kiddos, we were mostly moving around by ourselves instead of sticking to one big group. The first thing Fitzand told me when we arrived …… >> read more

Here We Go Again …

Written by • Jan 24th, 2011 • Category: Digital stuffs
… it’s Monday and another week of ‘trying-to-stay-alive-at-work’ for me. Weekend zapped past real fast! Weekend as usual … spending most time with Fitzand and since I had to attend a wedding dinner last night … I tried very hard to drain Fitzand’s ‘battery’ as much as possible so that he can take his nap and kick up less fuss when he finds me gone. 😀 Somehow after telling him that I’ll be going out for ‘work’, he seemed to have turn on his turbo mode. Usually he’ll just sleep… >> read more

The Pocket Cam

Written by • Sep 23rd, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
Compact cameras like the Natura Classica ain’t exactly compact to me. That’s because they won’t fit into my pocket (although empty 🙁 ) easily. Some months ago I picked up an used GR10 that was in minty condition for slightly less than S$200 and decided to use that as my everyday camera that I can bring around … and be my workhorse. I know there are some yummier alternatives like the GR21 (damn … I saw someone selling one lately) or the GR1v … but I need something cheap, something… >> read more

NATURAlly Found

Written by • Jan 4th, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
I’ve had this roll of Natura 1600 film in my Klasse W for a really long time and in it were a few shots taken during my Hong Kong trip some many months back! Gosh! Since I was dropping by the lab today, I finished the last 3 shots from the roll and popped it in the lab to see what’s in it. I didn’t even remember I had a few shots from that HK trip. Hahaha! I kinda like these few shots taken here in Singapore … ermmm …… >> read more

Everyday People

Written by • Nov 1st, 2009 • Category: Digital stuffs
Ever since I tried shooting in black & white mode using my Ricoh GRD3, I’ve decided to start two galleries to house photos I take with it. One is for photos in square (1:1) format in black & white and the other is a black & white collection of street photography shots (called ‘Everyday people’). I’ve had few photos for the square format gallery but was only able to kick-off the ‘everyday people’ set yesterday when I was on the way for breakfast with my family in Chinatown. Why did… >> read more

Desperate Test Shots

Written by • Jul 11th, 2009 • Category: Digital stuffs
Brought my family out for dim sum breakfast at Chinatown this morning and lugged my E-P1 along hoping to be able to take some (more) test shots. Fortunately we arrived at the restaurant earlier and there wasn’t too big a crowd yet. Fitzand had lots of prawns and seemed to enjoy eating ‘xiao long pao’ (some steamed chinese dumpling) and later he was busy playing near the entrance where there were some drums and a gong there. Auto focus was fast indoors even when lighting wasn’t that good. The 17mm… >> read more
