About Keri

Written by • May 21st, 2012 • Category: Someone : About

It has been a long time since I’ve done any feature/interview for the ‘About Someone’ section and when I decided to invite someone to participate in this next one … I immediately thought of this photographer I got to know through Lensbaby some years back.
Some of you might remember reading about her works in one of my blog entry about her photo book, Portland Vignettes.

I’m a big fan of her works!
A brief intro taken from her website …
“Keri Friedman is a photographer living in Portland, OR.… >> read more

Battlefield Pinhole Cam!

Written by • Jul 29th, 2011 • Category: Others

Came across this super duper awesome DIY camera tutorial … to make a ‘Battlefield Pinhole Camera’ by photographer Steven Monteau and thought maybe some of you might wanna build something similar. I was going ‘whoaaaa!’ and itching to try it out but I’ve hardly got enough free time to work on these fun projects lately.
Anyway …

the camera takes 3 rolls of 35mm film and exposes them simultaneously! I’ve seen some photos taken with 2 35mm strips on a Holga but this one … 3 rolls … and a… >> read more

I’m so gonna get this! Ermm … should I? I have my last Double Money voucher worth US$50 and I might just burn it on this new baby …

Toy Cameras : The Book

Written by • Mar 1st, 2011 • Category: Others

The postman arrived today with a book titled ‘Toy Cameras’ by Kevin Meredith (aka lomokev). As I was having (just another) hell-ish day at work, I couldn’t wait til I get home to sip some coffee (no beer!) and enjoy browsing it. It is a very nicely designed book, filled with lots of information about toy cameras as well as lots and lots of photos taken by those cameras.

Ahem! Ermm … I was invited to contribute some photos for the Diana Multi Pinhole camera section! It feels so awesome… >> read more

Go On! Take My Life!

Written by • Jan 27th, 2011 • Category: Others

I saw the ‘Love Is In The Air’ special edition of the Diana Mini before I went to bed and said to myself that luckily it ain’t a Diana F+ instead. My credit card bill for the Tori edition has not even arrive and I wouldn’t wanna see another edition of Diana F+ causing more damage to my wallet.

I must admit that I got a little excited when I saw the cool looking flash. Luckily I ain’t into the Minis.
So I happily went to bed but when I… >> read more

Unboxing Tori

Written by • Dec 30th, 2010 • Category: Toys

I shiver whenever I hear my name being called while waiting at a dentist queue but it is a totally different story when I hear my name being called while I’m busy pounding my keyboard at my work desk. Of course the voice (of the person calling my name) must be from a stranger … and that is usually … the postman! A large parcel arrived today (a little late for Christmas but who’s complaining?!) and it in … the Tori Amos special edition Diana F+ camera! I was dead… >> read more

Cyan Shine Shines!

Written by • Dec 13th, 2010 • Category: Others

A friend from Lomography recently updated me about this Cyan Shine Magazine which caters to the lomography, lo-fi, analog & film crowd. They’ve just launched Issue #0 and it is available for download now (in PDF format).

I downloaded it last night and I must say I’m pretty impressed with the contents. Lots and lots of beautiful cool photos and it is not peppered with adverts or some zzzzzzzz text. It features great photos from lots of great Lomographers/analogue lovers.
The download (of the softcopy magazine) is a little slow… >> read more

Be Very Afraid!

Written by • Oct 21st, 2010 • Category: Fun with film

I don’t mean to scare anyone out there but these are some of my test/experimental shots I did just now with my Instax Mini 55i and an Optrixx Camera (given to me by the famous Cyanwater). The Optrixx Camera isn’t really a camera, but rather a traditional optical amusement thingie. Since the Instax camera isn’t the type where you can actually see what the lens ‘sees’, it was a matter of trying out and pray something turns out okay.

The Optrixx … a cool present from Auntie Cyanwater
I couldn’t… >> read more

FACES By Miun

Written by • Oct 18th, 2010 • Category: Others

From the hands of the very talented friend, Noreen (aka Miun) … the artist who made me my coffin *cough* … here comes a very interesting exhibition that I thought many of you might be interested. I’ll be checking it out this coming weekend with my family and perhaps pick up an eye or two … or perhaps a mouth or nose?

the little drom store presents ‘F A C E S’ by illustrator/artist Miun
Faces is an interactive, conceptual artwork exploring human faces.
Limited hand-sewn eye, nose and mouth… >> read more

For You, ThirtySix

Written by • Oct 17th, 2010 • Category: Others

Just the other day when those guys from ThirtySix told me that they will be celebrating their shop’s 1st anniversary today … I thought of giving them a little present. Well I’m sure they have all the yummy cameras already on the shelves … so I decided to try ‘dress up’ a camera for them. The biggest problem was to come up with a design/idea immediately … then spend a night or two doing it. I had only a few nights to do it. Panic! Panic!

I didn’t have time… >> read more
