La Sardinas : Which One?

Written by • Jun 22nd, 2011 • Category: Toys
The much anticipated pretty new toy cameras from Lomography arrived at ThirtySix! The La Sardinas! I couldn’t decide on which one to buy and after some very (tough) consideration … I went for all four. čÖü Why is it that difficult to decide? Well … unlike cameras like the Blackbird, Fly which is a matter of choosing the color … the La Sardina has more to offer (in terms of the design). See below for some snapshots of the differences and try pick one that you like. čśë The El… >> read more

Unboxing Tori

Written by • Dec 30th, 2010 • Category: Toys
I shiver whenever I hear my name being called while waiting at a dentist queue but it is a totally different story when I hear my name being called while I’m busy pounding my keyboard at my work desk. Of course the voice (of the person calling my name) must be from a stranger … and that is usually … the postman! A large parcel arrived today (a little late for Christmas but who’s complaining?!) and it in … the Tori Amos special edition Diana F+ camera! I was dead… >> read more

Summer Is Here!

Written by • Dec 23rd, 2010 • Category: Others
About a month (or was it two?) ago … while chatting with a friend about dressing up Holga cameras, she asked if I’d be interested to help her do one as a present for a friend of hers. While I usually do not like the idea of having deadlines for doing such things (there is enough bloody deadlines at work!), I somehow agreed. We agreed on a certain fee to cover the camera, the materials and of course a few jugs of espresso to keep me awake … and the… >> read more

Making Diana’s Butts

Written by • Oct 19th, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
Pretty often I get asked this question … “How did you ‘dress up’ the cameras? Any instruction? Any video?”. My answer is usually “I don’t know how to really explain how it is done but you just need patience (a lot of it!) and some concentration to get things done nicely. As for the video … ermmm … no … I don’t have one. Sorry.” So since I was doing up that Diana+ camera recently (check it out here), I decided to try shoot some photos of how I was… >> read more

Swirly In The Soup

Written by • Jul 10th, 2010 • Category: Others
After being notified about my Lensbaby aperture disc design being one of the runner ups, I was contacted by Picture-Soup.com for a short interview regarding it. For those wondering how those custom discs which made it in the list (and the awesome winning one) looks like, do check out the article because they did publish images of the discs as well. Check out the article here. That’s all for this entry. čśÇ Gotta go get some sleep because I’ll be travelling up to Malaysia early in the morning … with… >> read more

Panic! Yay!

I remember blogging about helping out a friend to photograph some of her amazing floral art work for submission to the International Floral Art 2010-2011 call for entries. Honestly … I don’t know crap about floral stuffs and I didn’t know such publication exists … until Noreen showed it to me (the previous editions). Online sources says that “the aim of this biannual publication is to document the world’s most original and innovative floral art.” It was not until I flipped through the previous editions that I began to worry.… >> read more

A New Home!

Written by • Apr 4th, 2010 • Category: Others
It was only last month that wifey told me that she’s got the contractor to come fix up a new cabinet to replace the ‘display wall’ I had in my study room. I used to like the display wall but I’ve got lazy and those photos there has been hanging around since the day I moved in many years ago. I was delighted!!! That meant I could have a bigger display cabinet for my toys! I used to shove them into two small shelves from Ikea, and hid some of… >> read more

Don’t Be Naked!

Written by • Mar 26th, 2010 • Category: Others
After seeing how more people are putting some effort to ‘dress up’ their cameras, I decided to start a page in Facebook to house images of the many wonderful, cool, crazy, weird, funky, cute or sometimes bizarre looking cameras … for everyone to enjoy. Was pretty surprised to find that the number of fans hit over a hundred overnight! Photos are coming in real fast too and I do hope these photos can inspire more people to start dressing up their cameras. After all … naked cameras suck! As I’m… >> read more

Articulating LCDs? Nah!

Written by • Feb 9th, 2010 • Category: Others
Stumbled upon this super futuristic cool camera design and thought you guys might be interested to take a look at it. It is suppose to allow the user to take photos from all sort of angles. With this, people do not have to bitch about some new cameras not having those articulating LCD monitors anymore. “Fleximus camera is a┬áflexible tube with┬áa┬álens. You can choose to┬ámount either a┬ácompact view finder or a┬áthree-inch display module.” Maybe I can shove it down my throat to take some… >> read more

About Mijonju

Written by • Jan 15th, 2010 • Category: Someone : About
Michel aka Mijonju is a very interesting friend I got to know (strangely) through some Olympus E-P1 forum. His is a big crazy camera lover and of course from there, we got to be pretty good friends and did some double exposure collaborations together. I’m hoping we can meet up soon in Japan when I’m on vacation … but I’ve gotta make sure he doesn’t bring me camera shopping! Anyway, he is the featured person in this round of ‘About Someone’ entry. It is very interesting (and funny) to… >> read more
