Spinner : First Look

Written by • Jun 16th, 2010 • Category: Toys
I know it ain’t cheap but I thought to spend about S$200 on such a special newly invented weird camera is worth the pain. Well that’s what I thought … until some friend told me it is more like a copy of another camera. Huh? Really? I’ve never seen one! So he gave me this link and some four letter words came out flying from my filthy mouth. 😛 I must be blind or do I not see this Spinshot 35S being mentioned in the ‘History of 360 Photography’ section… >> read more

Holga + T400CN : Tokyo

I remember having to pour out the contents of my camera bag for the airport security guy (Narita Airport) and showed him my cams and chargers etc. He then put them all in 2 trays to re-scan them. He later came back to me and handed back my stuffs and held up my Holga … and said ‘Camera!’. I was wondering if he was asking me if that ugly plastic is a camera or was he telling me it is a cool camera. Hmm. Nevermind. I threw in the Holga… >> read more

Stretching It Again

We will be celebrating the World Pinhole Day this year on the 25th April 2010. Unfortunately I will be away for a week then and thus won’t be able to be shooting pinhole that day. Hmm. Ok … maybe I’ll try to … but it’s hell shooting pinhole on vacation without a tripod and having to let your family wait for you. Hahaha! Anyway, I did a pre-WPD 2010 shoot using my modified Holga WPC that I’ve not been using a for a long long time. This is one fun… >> read more

Blur Is Perfect!

Written by • Apr 6th, 2010 • Category: Others
A couple of weeks ago, I came across this really cool photo book at FourCornersDark website and from a few sample pages … I fell in love with it. Blurfect. Yeah! Blur! Blur is beautiful and I’m a sucker for such photos. The book layout is simple yet elegant … and costs only US$10 each. It states in the website that there is a ‘Edition of 100-signed/numbered’ copies but I don’t know if there are only 100 of them for sale. I got number 53 and 55 in the mail… >> read more

Black Peppered 120

Do you guys ever feel like you’re neglecting some of your cameras that you used to love? I do. Recently I had this weird feeling that I’ve been neglecting my Holga and thus loaded a long expired roll of Agfa Portrait into it. As some of you might know, I’m extremely busy recently trying to spend lots of time with my boy, trying to get him used to life without the *##@*&!@*&!! maid of mine … and so being trigger happy is quite a torture at the moment. Oh that… >> read more

I Love My Bicycle!

Another lovely Sunday spent with my family. Woke up early to bring Fitzand to the park for his regular run/cycle outing before settling down for breakfast. Fingers felt a little itchy, so I brought along my Harinezumi 2 for some random video captures. Unfortunately the rechargable battery was a little cranky … it suddenly died even while the battery indicator was showing full bar. A few attempts to resurrect it failed … and it was soon showing an empty battery indicator. Duh! I forgot to bring alone my other rechargable… >> read more

Smiley Half A Frame

Written by • Feb 24th, 2010 • Category: Others
Erik sent me this info about a new Holga camera called the Holga 135TIM. One look and I started to smile. Here’s a photo of it … Hello Spongebob! According to infomation found online, this is a half frame camera and as you can see from the front (makes me smile everytime I look at it), the two eyes seem to be the lenses. From the looks, it probably allows you to open either ‘eye’ to expose half a frame each time, and maybe opening both of them will give… >> read more

White Is The New Black

Written by • Jan 19th, 2010 • Category: Others
I’ve often heard people saying that big black cameras makes one look more ‘professional’. Hahaha! I always find that funny but then I’m sure it does make a professional look more serious in his/her work. Wannabes love lugging around big black cameras too! Thank God there are camera manufacturers who thinks that white cameras are cool and we’ve seen some cameras out there … clad sexily in white. I recently came across this special white edition of the tiny Minox digital camera. Personally I think it will look cooler if… >> read more

Welcome Home 120

Written by • Dec 25th, 2009 • Category: Fun with film
After a long absence from shooting 120 film, this roll of Agfa Portrait 160 loaded into my Holga was supposed to be a ‘welcome’ back for me into the world of medium format. I’ll be shooting much more using 120 film come 2010. What was supposed to be a few rolls of images shot in Malaysia few weeks back … ended up only half a roll was completed. These first few were taken when were we in Kuala Lumpur … This one below is my favourite from the roll. Nevermind… >> read more

Photographiques customises?

Written by • Dec 24th, 2009 • Category: Others
It wasn’t long ago that I did this interview with Catherine who runs a photography website (in French) … mostly about those ‘dressed up’/customized Holga cameras I used to do. Looking back … it has been a long long while since I’ve worked on any new design for the Holga cams and I promise myself to find time to work on few more designs in 2010. It is not that I’ve no new ideas to do them … but it is always the lack of time in life. Hahaha. How… >> read more
