One Roll, Three Countries

Written by • May 1st, 2013 • Category: Fun with film
The title of this entry (One Roll, Three Countries) may sound like some cool project I did but honestly … it is just a simple title to describe this roll of Neopan 400 loaded into my GR21 when I was in Japan early this year. As I have been struck by some strange illness called ‘no-mood-to-shoot’ (which is slowly recovering), I took only a handful of shots during that trip and then despite my desperate attempt to finish the 36 frames here in Singapore later … it still ended up… >> read more

Drops Of Miracle

This is a roll of Fujifilm Neopan 400 that I thought would never see the light of day. It is the 2nd test roll that I fed to the Ricoh GR21 in Japan and the roll was left in my drawer for months as I had run out of developer and just couldn’t find time to go replenish it. Last Sunday … I got a little crazy and there was this voice inside my head that told me to get the roll developed. The problem was … I still haven’t… >> read more

The MZ-S Roll From Tokyo

Written by • Nov 24th, 2012 • Category: Fun with film
Before the ‘arrival’ of the GR21 … I was planning to use only my Pentax MZ-S and a 50mm for all analogue photography. As I didn’t shoot much when I was in Yokohama (except digital ones), my fingers were given a treat when we moved to Tokyo. Many of these were taken in Disneyland as it was the first place we went to after leaving Yokohama. This is also a roll of expired Neopan 400 that I developed in the bathroom this morning. I made the right decision to bring… >> read more

GR21 – Test Roll 1

Written by • Nov 24th, 2012 • Category: Fun with film
Loaded a roll of expired Neopan 400 the moment I bought my GR21 in Tokyo last week. As the weather was a little cranky … one day of sun and another day of drizzle … I thought it will be good to be safe and shoot with the ISO400 film to test out the camera. Well … it was a little risk I had to take as I’d only know if the camera works fine (though it looks minty) after I get the rolls developed when I’m back here in… >> read more

Scanned The Rest

Written by • Nov 25th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
Finally done scanning the rest of the photos from my 1st roll of DIY developed black & white film (a roll of Neopan 400). You will find most of these are very random shots … ranging from puppies to chickens, from broken cups to wheelbarrows … as I was trying (very) hard to finish the roll during a trip to a relative’s place in Malaysia last weekend. I somehow ‘had to prepare’ a roll to try out DIY developing when I get back here and I am sure glad I… >> read more

I Did It! Yeah!

Written by • Nov 24th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
Now that the worries are over … I am happy to announce that my first roll of black & white film … developed at home … survived! I couldn’t be happier to see the film strip with images on them! I was dead worried I’ll send the roll (despite being a roll of random test shots) straight into the garbage bin. Woke up a little earlier today … so I have a bit of time to scan some of the photos to see how they turned out … I must… >> read more

LC-W : Streetshoot Tests

Written by • Jun 22nd, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
Gave the LC-W a test run on the streets recently and as a conclusion … I think being so super wide makes things very challenging. I remember being not too far from the subjects but the photos seem to show that the people (aka subjects) are further away. Good thing is that the wideness of the lens helps capture most of the ‘action’ even though sometimes I just roughly hold the camera up and snap without looking thru the viewfinder. The lens on the LC-W is pretty darn sharp and… >> read more

Re-loving Black & White

A roll of Neopan 1600 was stuck in my good ol’ Nikon FA for the longest time. After scanning these shots, I realised that some of them were from a long time back … when I was having some pints of icy cold Guinness at an Irish bar during the afternoon (yeah … it felt like a blackout when I stepped outta the pub). I left that roll fermenting in the camera until lately when I bought the pancake Nikon 45mm f2.8P lens and wanted to test drive it. These… >> read more

Warm Night, Cold Noods

Written by • Apr 15th, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
After selling off my DSLR body yesterday, I managed to let go my macro lens this evening. This means I’ve only 2 more lenses to sell before I am officially ‘DSLRless’. Someone’s coming over to check out the Sigma 10-20 lens tomorrow evening and I do hope he’ll help me clear off one more lens. These are a couple more of random test shots with the E-PL1 just now during dinner with my family (while waiting for the buyer who wanted my macro lens). I’ve had soba for the 2nd… >> read more
