I have always considered the Holga to be the ‘mother of all toy cameras’. When they launched the Holga 120WPC (Wide Pinhole Camera), I thought it was a great new design and of course i bought it for some super wide pinhole fun. Now … perhaps as a result of the big Blackbird, Fly camera craze … those guys in the factory seemed to have pieced something new … a Holga TLR! At first I was pretty excited when I read about it … until I saw photos of the camera …
Gosh! I personally think this is an awful design. They seemed to have taken the original Holga body, hacked off the viewfinder and placed a waist-level viewfinder on it. Looks bulky (as if the original Holga is not bulky enough) and pretty ugly. For those who love using waist-level viewfinders might find it useful though.
The other thing I noticed is this image above which seems to be ripped off from the Blackbird, Fly manual and then the Holga TLR photoshopped in. Hahaha.
Will I buy it? Nah. I’d rather stick with the sexier and prettier Blackbird, Fly.
* All images above were leeched from the Holga-Magic website.
For those who are interested … the camera is available here.
