I’m not sure of this happens elsewhere in the world, but it’s based on true (yeah, damn true!) story that happened to me. As I have some ‘extra’ cameras for sale, I’ll usually try selling them through some local photography forums. Often, I’ll get all sorts of questions about the camera, it’s performance and also sometimes some bargaining.
One thing that always amuses (and pisses me off) is when people send me private messages, mails or SMSes … asking if I can sell the item to them at a fraction of the price I was asking for! Well I have no problem giving some discount but those offers are sometimes only half or less of what I was asking for! Reasons for those crap offers can range from ‘I am on a budget’ (yeah, fuck then why are you buying cameras then?), ‘I am a student’ (damn, you think I’m your dad?) and all sorts of rubbish reasons.
With these experience, I am thinking of writing to eBay and see if they are interested to implement a new system that I’ve thought of. I might secure myself a decent job in their company too!
Okay, so here’s the idea … add something like this in the sale pages …
Then notify the seller and allow the seller to pick the best option …
Do you think this will work? Hahahaha! Okay, forgive me if I sound pretty angry in this blog entry. I’ll go grab myself some beer tonight and cool down. Hmm … wonder if the bar will sell me beer at half price because I’m an angry old man tonight.
