Get A (Better) Grip!

Written by • Jun 15th, 2011 • Category: Toys
This is probably the last ‘investment’ I’m ever gonna make on my X-100 and it arrived in the mail today. A ThumbsUp CSEP-2 that was originally designed for the Leica X1. It fits perfectly on the X-100 and now it is way easier shooting with one hand (which I do often as I’ve to hold on tight to my little Energizer bunny, Fitzand) and I don’t have to try keep a good grip on the camera anymore. The silver version looks pretty good on the X-100 despite the fact that… >> read more

It Is Still Christmas!!!

Written by • Jan 8th, 2011 • Category: Toys
Christmas is over? That’s what I thought until I went down to ThirtySix to collect my ‘girls’ after the recent Diana F+ showcase there. I went home … opened up the box … and in it was something I don’t remember passing to them. It was a box … sized like a normal Diana one … but wrapped up in some nice Lomography gift wrapper. Hmm. I thought it was a prank by those guys there but I almost screamed in excitement when I opened it up! It was a… >> read more

Lensbaby Diary Is Back!

Written by • Jan 1st, 2011 • Category: Digital stuffs
Two years ago I had to abandon my Lensbaby Diary (a Lensbaby photo a day project) as I just couldn’t find time to shoot every day. Well it is not too different now but since Fitzand is turning 4 next month and I’ve a bit more ‘breathing space’, I’ll give this project another go. Since today is the 1st of January 2011 … I thought why not kick off the project by photographing my favourite subject. 😀 After taking a few shots … I realised I had a problem. There… >> read more

Christmas 2010

Written by • Dec 25th, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
Merry Christmas!!! Some find it hard to believe that I turned down invitations to go grab some beer last night (on Xmas eve) but it is very true that I made the decision to spend the evening at home with my family instead. Good boy eh? 😀 We just got back from some shopping and lunch at Orchard Rd and Fitzand got himself some new toys as early birthday presents. It is about 2 weeks to go til his 4th birthday but we decided to let him pick his presents… >> read more

Swirly In The Soup

Written by • Jul 10th, 2010 • Category: Others
After being notified about my Lensbaby aperture disc design being one of the runner ups, I was contacted by Picture-Soup.com for a short interview regarding it. For those wondering how those custom discs which made it in the list (and the awesome winning one) looks like, do check out the article because they did publish images of the discs as well. Check out the article here. That’s all for this entry. 😀 Gotta go get some sleep because I’ll be travelling up to Malaysia early in the morning … with… >> read more

Creative Aperture : Test 1

Written by • May 31st, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
Found a couple of blank aperture discs in my drawer (for the Lensbaby) just the other day and thought it might be cool to try doing some unique ones instead of those made by using craft punchers. It can also try submitting them for the Lensbaby’s ‘Creative Aperture Kit Contest’ and try my luck there. The usual problem of not having time to go out shooting was still bugging me, so I had to try take some test shots from inside my car, at home and while waiting for wifey… >> read more

Stretching It Again

We will be celebrating the World Pinhole Day this year on the 25th April 2010. Unfortunately I will be away for a week then and thus won’t be able to be shooting pinhole that day. Hmm. Ok … maybe I’ll try to … but it’s hell shooting pinhole on vacation without a tripod and having to let your family wait for you. Hahaha! Anyway, I did a pre-WPD 2010 shoot using my modified Holga WPC that I’ve not been using a for a long long time. This is one fun… >> read more

LB Soft Focus Optic : Analogue Test

Written by • Jan 3rd, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
After some initial test with my DSLR, I decided to try out the Lensbaby Soft Focus Optic (SFO) on my cheap old film SLR. I know that the Lensbaby lenses can work very well on that SLR but I was a little worried about the metering when using the SFO. This is because of the many weird ‘holes’ (ie. apertures) on the aperture disc. I found my SLR already loaded with a roll of Reala 100 film and had a few shots already taken … and took me a while… >> read more

Got Dog, Got Lalang

Written by • Jan 1st, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
The title of this blog entry is inspired by Irorus who replied in my other entry (Fireworks : NY Eve 2010). For those who are wondering what ‘lalang’ is … they are actually those ermm … long-ish grass. Ermm … I don’t know what they’re called but ‘lalang’ is a Malay name for it. She posted that comment before I managed to post up this blog entry … and so I ‘stole’ the title from her comment. Hahaha! My favourite shot of the day. The main ‘model’ is my friend’s… >> read more

My Babies

Written by • Dec 2nd, 2009 • Category: Digital stuffs
Last week we had the opportunity to go for a short open-top bus ride along Orchard Road to view the Christmas lightings. Fitzand was going ‘yahooo! yippeee!’ all the way and I was busy trying to get some decent shots on the moving bus. I had my Lensbaby Composer with me and used a custom aperture disc like what I did last year for some fun and cool photos. Somehow I ended up with only two photos that I like. Maybe after the bunch of photos last year that are… >> read more
