LomoKino : iLike!

Written by • Nov 3rd, 2011 • Category: Toys
The clues & images Lomography recently teased us with already concluded that this is gonna be one fun awesome camera and many of us could hear our wallets cry in pain. The people at ThirtySix told me they have one pre-ordered for me (WTH?!) and yet I haven’t recovered from the damage of buying the metal La Sardinas!!! Arghhh!!! Here comes LomoKino! “Create movies of 144 frames on any 35mm analogue film. Watch your developed movies with the LomoKinoScope.” Good thing is this new toy is pretty reasonably priced and… >> read more

Partner For My 50mm

Written by • Oct 11th, 2011 • Category: Toys
After some waiting … finally found a small & solid SLR to partner my 50mm manual lens. Some local seller eventually lowered his asking price for this minty Pentax LX … and the green covering on it is a bonus! 😀 “It is a SLR which has its body structure made of rugged, die cast aluminum-alloy and equipped with a very reliable horizontally traveled Titanium electro-mechanical shutter, which provides a range of variable mechanical shutter speeds that will still be functional and withstanding temperatures down to -30C even in a… >> read more

Out Of Time!

Written by • Sep 23rd, 2011 • Category: Others
Received a piece of good news last night … about my schedule to exhibit some photos / experiment (details available soon) being postponed to mid October. Someone else will get to kick off this cool exhibition for a week first. Phew! This leave me an extra week to get more done. Well … it is not that I will be having tons of photos for it but I’ve been getting some very ‘shocking’ results lately. Also having to divide my time between work, looking after Fitzand … and stealing some… >> read more

The Impossible Deadline?

Written by • Sep 2nd, 2011 • Category: Others
I’ve not been updating my blog lately. No … not because I’ve given up on all this fun and picked up fishing or playing Chinese chess with those uncles at Chinatown. I recently took up a challenge to be in some photography/camera project that is scheduled to start in October and I’ve been spending time experimenting, trying to lose the last few strands of hair on my head … thinking of some new ideas & stuffs for it. Today I received an email from the organizer telling me that there… >> read more

Failed But Happy

Written by • Aug 21st, 2011 • Category: Digital stuffs
This entry is supposed to be about 2 tests/experiments with film that I tried out today in between all the busy tasks … but unfortunately I screwed up one of them and still couldn’t figure out the second one. Well … I’ll try again tomorrow or another day. I’ll just post these few snapshots I took of Fitzand today while out shopping. He had a wonderful time as usual and I picked up a free Sony iPod/iPhone dock for him so that he can play his favorite songs from my… >> read more

Beast Gets Wide!

Written by • Aug 4th, 2011 • Category: Toys
The Bronica ETRsi was one of the camera I bought just to ‘have a feel’ of how such camera works. Little did I know that I’ll end up loving that boxy heavy camera so much that I decided to not only keep it … but also get an extra lens and a couple of accessories for it. The last time I bought such a heavy beast … was the Kiev60 … the ‘bumble bee’ cam that I’ve used once and has been sitting heavy in my cabinet since. The first… >> read more

Another weekend coming to an end and my battery is pretty much flat … with just enough juice to post this entry … then off to bed. Met up with some friends at Farmart this evening … enjoyed some … ermm … ‘fermented malt & barley’ in the bright daylight as well as munching some yummies. Fitzand had big fun feeding goats too! Jimmy (from ThirtySix) gave me an Instant Kit for the Lomo LC-Wide and since I had my instant back with me … I burned slightly over a… >> read more

LC-W : Streetshoot Tests

Written by • Jun 22nd, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
Gave the LC-W a test run on the streets recently and as a conclusion … I think being so super wide makes things very challenging. I remember being not too far from the subjects but the photos seem to show that the people (aka subjects) are further away. Good thing is that the wideness of the lens helps capture most of the ‘action’ even though sometimes I just roughly hold the camera up and snap without looking thru the viewfinder. The lens on the LC-W is pretty darn sharp and… >> read more

A LC-Wide Miracle Roll!

Written by • May 30th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
It has been quite some worrying hours since the night shoot with Jim & Noreen on Saturday night (you can read about it here) as I was really hoping to see some of my own first photos with the LC-W. I quickly fired away the remaining frames yesterday and made a dash to the lab during lunch today. The moment the guy at the lab handed me the film strips … I asked him ‘gone case?’ and he replied ‘not really … got things!’. Miracle happened! Well … at least… >> read more

A Night With The LC-W

Written by • May 29th, 2011 • Category: Digital stuffs
Sitting here at my desk at 2:05am … not long after returning from a fun evening (long one!) out with Jimmy & Noreen (from ThirtySix). I dropped by ThirtySix to collect some film and we decided to go grab a quick dinner and then go test out the Lomo LC-W. I am not one who has the patience to do nite (long exposures!!! zzzz) shooting but since I was out already … I thought I could give it a go. Honestly … my biggest problem was figuring out the correct… >> read more
