Battle Of The Wides

Written by • Jul 23rd, 2011 • Category: Others
Some friends asked me about which Lomo/toy camera should they go for if they wanna shoot wide. In the past, I’d tell them to either get the LC-A+ with the wide angle lens attachment or the (way cheaper but needs lots more light and careful usage) Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim (UWS) (also rebranded as the Superheadz’s Wide Lens Camera). Now with the introduction of few newer cameras from Lomography, it is harder to answer that question (which wide angle cam to go for). We now have the LC-Wide, La… >> read more

So Dead

I’m so gonna get this! Ermm … should I? I have my last Double Money voucher worth US$50 and I might just burn it on this new baby … “Wrapped in Italian red goat leather and decorated with fertility symbols, the Russia Day Lomo LC-A+ features the original Russian Minitar 1 Lens which started the Lomographic movement. Limited to just 2000 units, the Russia Day Lomo LC-A+ comes presented in a velvet box and includes a special LC-A+ camera strap which features a Russia Day emblem (one of 5 designs)… >> read more

Good News! Bad News!

Good news for all the Lomography/toy camera lovers here in Singapore! Just got notified by ThirtySix that they are having a super great sale from 10th June to 10th July 2011! So what’s the bad news? The bad news is only for our wallets and credit cards! Hey … but then … why not? 😀 They are also having a ‘private film sale’ tonight at 8pm to 9pm. Hmm … maybe I’ll drop by, pick up a bucket of film and then get them to buy me a bucket of… >> read more

A LC-Wide Miracle Roll!

Written by • May 30th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
It has been quite some worrying hours since the night shoot with Jim & Noreen on Saturday night (you can read about it here) as I was really hoping to see some of my own first photos with the LC-W. I quickly fired away the remaining frames yesterday and made a dash to the lab during lunch today. The moment the guy at the lab handed me the film strips … I asked him ‘gone case?’ and he replied ‘not really … got things!’. Miracle happened! Well … at least… >> read more

LC-A+ Gone Wide

Written by • May 19th, 2011 • Category: Others
Lomography as usual … got people all excited about a ‘mystery’ product and finally here it is … the Lomo LC-Wide. Seem that the classic LC-A+ has ‘mutated’ into something a lot different … boasting a newly-developed 17mm Minigon Ultra-Wide Angle lens … allows shooting in full frame, square as well as half frame formats. I was wondering what the two red parts are for and after a while … it seems that they are just part of the design. Not some buttons that you can press. Is that right… >> read more

Doubles, Doubles On The Wall

Probably the roll that was left fermenting for the longest time in my LC-A+. It was a roll I prepared for a double exposure … probably end of last year and then couldn’t find time to finish shooting it until now. It is pretty fun looking at the photos and go ‘Whoa! That was taken sometime in February this year!’. Here are the messy (I love mess!) photos … This one below was taken at the 2011 Chingay parade rehearsal. Oh man … how time flies! The first exposure in… >> read more

How To : Strip In Strips

Written by • Feb 24th, 2011 • Category: Others
I received several emails asking how exactly I took those photos in the recent ‘Strip In Strips‘ entry and since I ain’t good with words … and even worse at describing things … I thought why not I try use some images to try explain it. Since this is a double exposure thingie … first you need to make sure you compensate exposure accordingly … like how you would normally do (when doing double exposures). For the first exposure … I took photos of a film strip. For best result… >> read more

Strip In Strips

Frankly … I was almost bored to death during my trip to Malaysia for the Lunar New Year recently. Luckily I managed to get my dad to make a trip to the store to get me a prepaid internet access SIM card. However … I was still super busy having to look after Fitzand and trying to recover from hangovers. 😛 In between these stuffs … I finished a roll of the Lomo Chrome 100 Xpro film (in a week). It was actually meant to be a roll of ‘first… >> read more

The Getaway : The Lomo

Written by • Sep 7th, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
No getaway is complete without lugging along an analogue cam. The LC-A+ plus a roll of Lomo Xpro 200 slides were my snapshot buddies during last weekend’s visit to the Universal Studios and here are some random cross-processed shots … This is the first time I’m trying this xpro film and I was expecting lots of yellow and green from it. Surprisingly some of the shots turned out with some other colors still ‘intact’. I kinda realise that my LC-A+ now acts a little weird. Exposures are like all over.… >> read more

Instant In A Box

Written by • Jul 23rd, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
This is probably something I had been working on for the longest time (just like trying to quit smoking). The original plan was to make an instant pinhole camera using a dead old Polaroid EE100 but after some initial disappointment and some headaches trying to remove the parts off the camera … I decided to work on a totally different DIY instant pinhole camera. The mess I got from trying to modify the EE100 into an instant pinhole. LOL! I couldn’t remove the part where the original lens used to… >> read more
