12 Frames Here & There

Written by • Jan 7th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
Something shocking happened during my trip to Taiwan recently. I opened up my camera bag … removed the back from my Diana F+ and … OMG!!! I forgot to bring along an empty 120 spool and also the bottom plate that holds the roll of film in place! I removed it to install the instant back some time ago but forgot to place it back! Oh no! For a second my plan to fire at least a roll with the camera went up in smoke. A few seconds later I… >> read more

Of Chickens & Poo

Written by • Dec 28th, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
Burned some Instax wide film during my recent trip to Malaysia. This first one is my favourite. It was a lucky shot though. I waited for the rooster to walk towards me but I knew that to get a nicer angle … I had to go lower down … but … the ground was peppered with chicken poo. Damn. Eeew! I have enough of those (poo/shit/crap) at work and so I told myself that it was gonna be a ‘don’t think … just shoot’ situation. I was very happy when… >> read more

Some Digitals

Written by • Dec 21st, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
I has been a while since I shot any other subject except Fitzand on digital and I just had to give my cam some warming up during my trip to Malaysia last weekend. Somehow I only managed a few shots and here they are … Yeah … yeah … yeah … I know … nothing too interesting but that’s about all I could do. Gonna spend the rest of the night working on a ‘dressed up’ Holga that I promised to do for a friend. We agreed on an idea… >> read more

Haircut Drama

Written by • Dec 20th, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
Fitzand loves spending time at his grandparents’ place in Malaysia and since the childcare was closed last Friday, a trip to Malaysia for a long(er) weekend seemed to be a good idea. He had lots of fun playing there and my mom was saying that Fitzand needs a haircut. Perhaps trim a little on all sides. Hmm. Despite hearing the ‘horror stories’ of how I struggled/sweat to convince him to let me trim his hair … how I only manage to snip off a small part (of the hair) at… >> read more

Spinning In Malaysia

Written by • Jul 14th, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
During last weekend’s trip to Malaysia, I actually planned to shoot at least 3 rolls on my Spinner but due to the super duper busy time there … I managed to burn only one single roll. As we spent most of the time at home with my parents, the only time I could fire some shots was during a short trip out of town to some small fishing village (my bro goes thru all that trouble just to buy fresh seafood!) and a short visit to a temple near there.… >> read more

Kipon Tilt Adapter

Written by • Jul 13th, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
My dream of getting a tilt-shift adapter to use on my Olympus E-P1/E-PL1 went crashing out of the window when I found out that a Japanese company/shop was coming out with one that costs about US$400. That’s a lot of money for an adapter and I gave up all hopes … until recently … somehow my itchy fingers typed ‘w … w … w … e … b … a … y … c … o … m’. Out of the blue, I was suddenly reminded of the tilt-shift adapter… >> read more

Kids R Fun : Harinezumi 2

Written by • May 12th, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
Traveled up to Malaysia to visit my folks last weekend and my brother (from Kuala Lumpur) was also there with his little girl, Zaydeen. Fitzand was thrilled to meet his ‘partner in crime’ again and they turned my folks home upside down with their funny and noisy tricks. We dragged my brother and Zaydeen along when we visited our in-laws whose home is about 30 minutes from town and boy … the two kiddos had a fun time there feeding chickens, eating durians and lurking under the trees. I had… >> read more

Lensbabies + K-x : A Test

Written by • May 11th, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
After a short break from using my Lensbaby, finally I’ve ‘migrated’ the cool lenses to Pentax mount and since the K-x will be almost ‘permanently married’ to the Lensbabies … I had to give it a test run to figure out how the camera will meter with the lenses. Lugged the setup to Malaysia during the weekend … hoping to be able to find time to take some shots and get used to the new combo … time somehow zapped past real fast and I ended up with only a… >> read more

CNY 2010 In MY

Written by • Feb 19th, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
Just arrived back here in Singapore this evening after spending 6 days in Malaysia, celebrating the Chinese New Year with my family there. The kids (Fitzand and his cousin sister, Zaydeen) had the most fun during this trip. Guess that is why sometimes when I think back … these celebrations were much more fun when I was young. *cough* I took some random digital shots to document down the fun filled, waist-extending, liver-damaging and laughter-filled celebration. As usual, my dad seems to be pretty relaxed about the entire preparation …… >> read more

Monday Horror! [RANT]

Written by • Jan 11th, 2010 • Category: Others
[RANT MODE ON] With Yahoo’s new page layout, you’ll always see some images of some headlines plastered smack in the middle of the top of the page. What really irritates the hell outta me today is this image used for the article ‘Alarm grows over church attacks in M’sia’. There’s nothing wrong with this image. It is just that I have Yahoo! Singapore page as my home page and each and every time I open up my browser … I have this really scary looking crying woman staring back at… >> read more
