Warming Up The F3

Written by • Aug 7th, 2012 • Category: Fun with film
Left with not much time and inspiration to shoot, I recently pulled out my old Nikon F3 and loaded a roll of Lomo negatives to give the camera a ‘warm up’. It has been sitting in there (cabinet) for a while now and I sure don’t want it do die a natural death in there. Thank God it still works great! I only have 2 lenses for the F3 and these were all shot using the Carl Zeiss 50mm f1.4 lens. The other one is an el cheapo macro lens… >> read more

Sardina Re-lovin

Written by • Jun 11th, 2012 • Category: Fun with film
Here’s another roll of film that has been ‘fermenting’ in a camera for some time. This time … it is a roll of Lomography 100 negatives in my La Sardina. The La Sardina has been one of my favorite Lomography camera! Was lucky to have some light leaks thrown in for a couple of shots. 😀 Since around 99% of my free time is spent with Fitzand … the little boss’s face appears in quite many frames (again). Hmm … I can’t recall when I loaded this roll of film… >> read more

Unmasking Negativity : How?

Written by • Oct 17th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
‘Unmasking Negativity : The Truth Beneath’ is part of the ‘Impossible Lessons’ exhibition where a handful of people get to showcase and share special ‘tricks’ and experiments done using the Impossible Project films and Spectra cameras. I was pretty lost in the beginning … not knowing what to do and neither had I any experiment in mind. Doing stuffs like double exposures seemed a little too common … so I decided to take a risk (and waste lots of film) and try something different. Perhaps it was just luck that… >> read more

Experiments & Heartbreaks

Written by • Aug 22nd, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
As part of a series of experiments done in collaboration with those guys from ThirtySix, I squeezed out a little bit of my time during the weekend to play with a Polaroid Spectra camera & two packs of film. Unfortunately the initial few shots went to heaven as the experiment didn’t turn out well. Few more shots ended up in hell because for some weird reason … the film got jammed while the camera was ejecting it. I had no choice but to take out the pack of film and… >> read more

ETRsi + 135W : Test 2

Written by • Aug 10th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
The 2nd roll from the test shoot. This time … a roll of Reala 100 which also has been sleeping in my fridge for the longest time. These shots were taken this afternoon when I took 2 hours off from babysitting Fitzand to meet up a friend in Chinatown for dim sum. Of course I took opportunity of the ‘freedom’ to burn a roll of film there! 😀 This photo (above) is my favourite from the roll. This was actually the 2nd shot of a similar scene after I waited… >> read more

Classica : Test Roll

Written by • Apr 5th, 2011 • Category: Fun with film
A test roll loaded into my Fujifilm Classica somehow took me ages to complete. Finally finished the last frame and sent it to the lab. Well … they are all random snapshots just to test if the camera is working fine. So do I like the Classica? Hmmm … it is basically a very light but not too compact point & shoot camera that produces pretty sharp photos but perhaps I’m spoilt by the Klasse … so much so that I find the Classica feels too plastic. Don’t get me… >> read more

Fisheye-ing Alkies

Written by • Nov 1st, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
A roll of el cheapo 24 exposure Top Crest ISO200 negative (I think some supermarket brand) that was part of a bundle when I bought some film from eBay ages ago was fed to my Fisheye2 a month back and finally during my short outings with my brother yesterday … I got to finish shooting the roll. The yummies! #1 alkie … my brother Of course not forgetting his partner in crime getting drunk … Mr. Low … It has been some weeks since I has had any film to… >> read more

Split! Spin! Split! Spin!

Written by • Aug 28th, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
Recently as I was just about to load a of film into my Spinner … I suddenly had this crazy idea to implement the Splitzer’s concept with the Spinner’s kickass long pano. So I took a closer look at the camera and reached for the ever-useful roll of black electrical tape. I thought maybe I could just tape up parts of the slot (see photo below) and then expose the roll … reload it … and then tape up the other parts of the slot to expose the other parts… >> read more

F3 And FE2

Written by • Jul 3rd, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
It has been weeks since the personal warranty period given to me by the guy who sold me the minty F3 is over and I’ve just (finally) finished the test roll on it. Things got a bit slow (the test roll) and I had to take a risk and hoped that the camera works fine … and it was quite a good thing to see that at least the metering still works great. This test roll is a long expired Mitsubishi 200 film which I pretty like and I remember… >> read more

Nikon 35Ti : Test Shots

Written by • Jan 24th, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
Took some time off from baby sitting and spent a couple of hours with friends for a short shoot. Finally I can finish my test roll on the recent 35Ti I picked up … and as a matter of fact, I even got to finish another roll on it! Perhaps it’s because I’ve not been shooting film for a short while … my trigger-happy finger just couldn’t stop. 😀 Weather was crazy! It was so damn hot that we almost gave up shooting. The first test roll was a roll… >> read more
