Battlefield Pinhole Cam!

Written by • Jul 29th, 2011 • Category: Others
Came across this super duper awesome DIY camera tutorial … to make a ‘Battlefield Pinhole Camera’ by photographer Steven Monteau and thought maybe some of you might wanna build something similar. I was going ‘whoaaaa!’ and itching to try it out but I’ve hardly got enough free time to work on these fun projects lately. 🙁 Anyway … the camera takes 3 rolls of 35mm film and exposes them simultaneously! I’ve seen some photos taken with 2 35mm strips on a Holga but this one … 3 rolls … and… >> read more

Love The Spam!

Written by • Apr 7th, 2011 • Category: Others
Don’t you dare try spam me though. 😀 This is a ‘making of’ video for a ‘Spamera’ … a DIY pinhole camera using an empty Spam can … done by the talented Noreen (aka Miun). She told me about this little project of hers, and she was making this as a birthday present for ‘Queen’ Cyanwater … the famous Lomographer and lady boss of ThirtySix. Noreen did asked if I’d be interested to make one too … and at that time I foolishly told her I’d be interested to try… >> read more

How To : Strip In Strips

Written by • Feb 24th, 2011 • Category: Others
I received several emails asking how exactly I took those photos in the recent ‘Strip In Strips‘ entry and since I ain’t good with words … and even worse at describing things … I thought why not I try use some images to try explain it. Since this is a double exposure thingie … first you need to make sure you compensate exposure accordingly … like how you would normally do (when doing double exposures). For the first exposure … I took photos of a film strip. For best result… >> read more

Summer Is Here!

Written by • Dec 23rd, 2010 • Category: Others
About a month (or was it two?) ago … while chatting with a friend about dressing up Holga cameras, she asked if I’d be interested to help her do one as a present for a friend of hers. While I usually do not like the idea of having deadlines for doing such things (there is enough bloody deadlines at work!), I somehow agreed. We agreed on a certain fee to cover the camera, the materials and of course a few jugs of espresso to keep me awake … and the… >> read more

Some Digitals

Written by • Dec 21st, 2010 • Category: Digital stuffs
I has been a while since I shot any other subject except Fitzand on digital and I just had to give my cam some warming up during my trip to Malaysia last weekend. Somehow I only managed a few shots and here they are … Yeah … yeah … yeah … I know … nothing too interesting but that’s about all I could do. Gonna spend the rest of the night working on a ‘dressed up’ Holga that I promised to do for a friend. We agreed on an idea… >> read more

Instant In A Box

Written by • Jul 23rd, 2010 • Category: Fun with film
This is probably something I had been working on for the longest time (just like trying to quit smoking). The original plan was to make an instant pinhole camera using a dead old Polaroid EE100 but after some initial disappointment and some headaches trying to remove the parts off the camera … I decided to work on a totally different DIY instant pinhole camera. The mess I got from trying to modify the EE100 into an instant pinhole. LOL! I couldn’t remove the part where the original lens used to… >> read more

Fat Finger Saved S$50!

Written by • Feb 23rd, 2010 • Category: Toys
Came across someone selling a Russian Zenit f2.0 58mm lens in mint condition and he was throwing in a Zenit 412 for free because he claims that there was a problem with the mirror. The mirror was stuck at the down position. I took the risk and bought it for only S$50 (about US$35) … hoping that I can resurrect it (despite knowing that I ain’t trained in these stuffs) and amazingly … I did! So what did I do? Hahaha! I don’t believe it myself. After trying to fire… >> read more

iPhone Camera Upgrade

Written by • Feb 22nd, 2010 • Category: Others
For those who own the iPhone and ever wished that the camera can be better … now there is a solution. You can now mount your DSLR lenses on the iPhone. Cool ain’t it? Imagine having a cool white Canon L lens on your iPhone! Here are some photos of how the setup looks like … Madness ain’t it? 😀 He calls it the ‘Phone-O-Scope’. For more info about this ‘invention’ … check out [this link]. Don’t ask me if I’ll be trying this. I do not own an iPhone.… >> read more

Extracting The Film Leader

Written by • Dec 19th, 2009 • Category: Others
Quite often I’ve been asked how do we extract the film leader from the canister … in order for the roll to be reloaded into another camera for the 2nd exposure. To be honest … in the past … I used to get the guy at the lab to help me do so. I thought that was the only way to do it until I met a very helpful camera seller who demonstrated how it can be done with just a short strip of film and double-sided tapes. I immediately… >> read more

Gakkenflex : Fun!

Written by • Nov 12th, 2009 • Category: Others
Finally got my Gakkenflex assembled and ready to go. It was really fun putting the little parts together but not being able to read Japanese (in the instructions) did make me pause a couple of times to look hard before proceeding. Some of the parts/steps were a little confusing (for me). So I decided to note those down and maybe share with everyone here … in case anyone is interested. 😀 All ready to start … after Fitzand goes to bed 😀 The final product … ready to go! The… >> read more
